Ignore what the others are saying because they clearly forgot that this is an SI story. No way in hell was a normal person gonna become a hyper competent badass in a type moon setting.
Yes your SI is pathetic, but it's good that he is. Why? Because it's been repeatedly stated that he's just a normal person trying to survive in a world that clearly has it out for him.
This is good because not only are you staying in character, but also showing good development in the recent chapters as the pathetic coward is actually standing up and doing something with the shitty hand he's been dealt. Is he doing it in a good and competent manner?
No but that's understandable because the SI is a NORMAL PERSON with no combat experience, no master strategist, and only getting by with pure luck.

Honest opinion, reading up to this chapter, it feels like I'm reading a light novel. Majority of the content is Shirou's thought or some kind of exposition. I'm a Shirou Stan and, yet, I haven't quite connected with your personification of Shirou. I guess it's his attitude that's throwing me off. And, though I know he's a child, the sense of helplessness is... Disgusting. And then there is Gilgamesh's description of his soul. Garbage.

AU, events happen that didn’t happen in original, plus a couple naive OC characters, SI/Shirou who wants a normal peaceful life, ergo he is already freaking out. Little angst and unstable mind, irritating sometimes. A lot of intrinsic monologuing. Question though: Why and more importantly how, Caster? Plus the author states that he has functioning 27 magic circuits from birth which is definitely not canon, AU, writer writes what they want. Also nothing about turning nerves into circuits in this. MC is very passive so no action or preemptive preparation. Illogical moments as well, such as elimination target in front of them but eliminate themselves instead by choice? Decent read but irritates.
