It’s an interesting concept. I’m curious how you plan to handle it as it’s clear Unova has a major disadvantage and even if an individual Unovan does well it won’t really support a metric of strength when they’ll be paired with someone from a different region and stronger trainers will be paired with weaker trainers anyway.
Also, this chapter hints that you intend for Iris to shine here…but without massive plot armor that seems EXTREMELY unrealistic. She’s not yet champion level and she literally only has three Pokémon on her actual team. There’s a big difference between a Gym Leader’s personal team and their 8th badge tier Pokémon after all. Plus a tournament like this has to happen quickly over the course of a single day or two at most for national security purposes given the participants. Unless her partner carries her, three Pokémon, even dragons, will not have the energy and power to get through at minimum three successive high teir battles just to qualify for the main tournament and then to make a good showing in said main tournament. Nobody will be pulling their punches and unlike Iris they can trade out different members of their team to rest or better match their opponents. Iris is good, but she shouldn’t yet be that good. Curious how you handle this.
