seems reasonable!
I had so many tiny bits for a blood traitor Harry to say in various bits of cannon, but the likelihood of him ever being in a cannon enough universe to say them seems to shrink farther and farther the longer one looks.

A lovely story so far, if you do take it further I would expect that Merriweathers distrust of Dumbledore’s extremists as well as his suspicions about who was responsible for forcing him in with Vernon and Petunia to push the clan to agree London school would be safer at staying neutral than Hogwarts. Also being a blood traitor avoiding the school patronized by the nobility seems like a valid choice.
I would also prefer it personally as despite the world building needed it changes the plot needed each year so you can avoid the same old, same old Philosophers Stone etc.
