Problem with these kind of stories is that Ranger and Stephanie seem to have a communal relationship where his staff are part of his relationship with Stephanie so their relationship is not just the two of them. People like Hector can certainly screw peoples lives by misinterpretation.
The tragedy in this story is Stephanie going back to the burg in the end.
