why would they fight itachi is only in the akatsuki because he is a spy if kisame betrays then he they can lie and say naruto was to strong that helps him because itachi is loyal to the village he should have the prerogative to not kill leaf Shinobi even if he had his reasons to kill his clan

While I had no delusions of Naruto beating Orochimaru, I did think you’d do better with the fight. This felt entirely too rushed and like he didn’t truly grow as a combatant under Mei. Naruto’s primary way of attacking has always been clones. Mixing in both his shadow and water clones into the mist for hit and run tactics as well as ambush’s would have been far more effective. He could have also summoned sharks to launch surprise attacks from any puddles formed.
