I see so many fanfics mention (or in a few, whine) about the issue of electricity and magic not mixing. "But Diagon Alley is in London!" "There's a bookstore next to the Leaky Cauldon." Yeah that's NEXT TO, not IN the Alley.
So many are thinking in muggle science terms in regards to this issue, thinking of magic similar to electricity or light that radiates out from a point and affects a general area.
Not so with magic, especially with wards.
Wards affect what's UNDER the ward, not what's NEXT to it. And the Alley does have some wards, folding the space and keeping muggles out at the least.

"Death was trying to give him things"? That sounded rather ominous.
At first I was wondering if Death itself was trying to communicate with Harry due to his Perevell(sp?) heritage. But then I remembered, this Harry was raised in a Magical household since he was 5-6 yrs old. Therefore, he would have knew wizarding bedtime stories.
In the 7th book Ron stated that book Dumbledore left Hermione were children's bedtime stories that every kid in magical world knew.
So Harry likely heard/read them and would know the story of Death, Perevell Brothers and the Deathly Hallows.

I was annoyed at how easy it seemed to make Sirius a Potter. Seems too easy for line theft, that families would work to make harder. But then I remembered that the Potters took Sirius in when he was 16. With that I hand wave the disbelief away.

ok so, you've got a plot hole here, unless the Dursley's are immune to confundus charm? Arcturus used confundo and made them forget about Arcturus and Padfoot and beleive Harry just ran away.
But within 2 days they remembered arcturus, and hid all the evidence?
