I can see how meeting kirishima and Mina early contributes to their respective characters but I still have no idea how Tooru contributes to the deku squad.

Eri made her first friend yes! I have no idea what meeting Tooru early is supposed to do for the new deku squad character wise. The baku squad speaks for itself given bakugou and kirishima's canonically friendship and Mina having successful befriended and reformed bullies in her backstory.
DESPISE the Stockholm syndrome inclusion but it's actually serving a purpose so it works.
PS- Is Laura actually a Quirk user in this universe or is she still a mutant? because that distinction WILL become important during the Quirk training arc.
