Maybe being adopted will let him push Pre to being less of an idiot. Guy’s methods and ally choices sometimes circle around to pants on head. As a place to recover, train, learn, grow, and acquire gear with his holocron he could do far worse. This is a cool arc to look forward to I wonder whose holocron it is. An oddball like Belia Darzu or another random Sith Lord would keep things fresh.

I'm very interested to see where you're going with this holocron. I feel like it's going to be someone from the Old Republic era maybe Darth Nox or his more nicer counterpart Darth Imperius which I feel would be awesome to see this counterpart used for once). Revan would be a solid but common choice, but maybe someone less obvious? maybe the ancient sith'ari Adas? except his holocron should be somewhere else unless author fiat moved it here. anywho, should be interesting to see who his new tutor is, what they'll teach.
of all the styles, i feel like mastering both varients of form 5 would be specifically appropriate to him. it's a style that uses a lot of strength and endurance. an indomitable blend of a strong defense as a foundatio for counters and attacks, against one or many. against lightsabers or blasters. That's my vote for the form he'd get taught and i think would suit him over the hyper aggresive juyo, the to defensive soresu, or acrobatic ataru. and makashi is too narrow for what he knows is coming. mastering form 5, both, is preparing for all the enemies from sith to jedi to clones to droids to bounty hunters. it sets him up to not be at a disadvantage in his specialty ever, and unlike soresu both of form 5 come with aggressive applications which is more in line with his mentality, whereas i feel juyo would be to over the top aggressive, counter to his instinct to defend himself by going full attack mode. his instinct to blend defense and offense that was reinforced on the sands seems like it would fit djem so and shien.

Also, freaking HATE the modern Mandalorian armor designs. they're littered with glaring MASSIVE vulnerabilities. the hands if they don't have aplate on the back or Crushgaunts, the entire upper arm from just below the elbow to the pauldron, and the pauldrons are usually a joke. the torso coverage leaves huge space open on the sides from waist to armpit, the legs at most have plates on the upper thigh, shin, and front of boot. leaving most of the leg, the entire back, most of the inner and outer leg with jack for protection. And of course, despite a couple thousand years of fighting jedi, somehow mandalorians forgot how to make a freaking gorget or ANYTHING to protect their necks? the fact is the canon armor is shite in coverage, and it wouldn't even take much to fix it so that small places like the armpit are in fact RARE vulnerabilities. Mandalorian armor is 'looks cool' armor, not something that actually makes any sense besides full head coverage (except the freaking NECK). Cool helmet, but everything below that needs a redesign.
Hopefully when Kane gets his own he designs it to actually be worth a damn instead of leaving massive swaths of his body uncovered. I mean for fucks sake, even phase one clone armor has better coverage. if Mandalorians had the same coverage as clones they'd actually be the walking tanks they're set up to be. Of course, a lot of mandalorians of this time don't have full beskar armor unless it is handed down with the New Mandalorians throttling the mining and use of the material. Kane should do a redesign, but he should experiment with non-beskar to get an idea of what works for how much coverage he can have without impeding movement.
he could go for a more covered and protected style, maybe use the 'Old Republic troopergoogle) design in a fit of irony with a gorget or bevor added and use the modern mandalorian helmet. or maybe take inspiration from the armor the 'Old Republic jedi armorgoogle) wore that allowed for more movement if that would suit him better. Or maybe the 'Sith Eradicator" armor. Just for gods sake whatever it is make it armor that actually wraps around and covers all around each limb with nothing but minor gaps, not whole chunks of arm and leg and neck begging for a lightsaber to go right through the underweave like the canon mando armors' shite coverage

Well, to be Pre Vizlas bastardization of a mandalorian that's little more than the star wars equivalent of ASOIAFires Ironborn without the saltwives. Bandits and raiders with a good story and better training, but still just bloodthirsty (highly trained) space bandits is all Death Watch ever was. Cowards who didn't dare face the True Mandalorians. Kane is smart to take the offered training and equipment. but if this is canon Vizla, killing him later, taking over Death Watch and reforging it into something the other clans would find tolerable is the way to go. Pre is an egomaniacal space highwayman of the worst kind, which is why he could never gather the support to really overthrow a freaking PACIFIST GOVERNMENT. An opposing leader who could not possibly keep power against even a minor force arrayed against her, which means the only explanation for why Death Watch couldn't take over was they were so repugnant they couldn't gather enough support to even challenge the pacifist Dar'Manda New Mandalorians (FUCK what the show did to Mandalorians), who cannot possibly have been able to militarily contest a true attempt to take over. The only other move is to make sure she doesn't get off world, and handle the PR angle to make the Republic intervening cause problems.
The Republic is so mired in their own shite that even the threat of jedi showing up isn't much of an issue after Galidraan and the scourging of Mandalor if the coup planners have a plan in place to handle PR to make it an internal matter and make any jedi showing up look like bloodthirsty tyrants baying to murder their way into putting an approved puppet on a sovereign planets leadership. after the last three times they've come. The jedi after all installed the Duchess, intervening in an internal matter of Mandalor and effectively installing a Senate approved ruler under threat of the Republic slaughtering anyone who had a problem with the Senate's puppet polishing the throne.
Pre Vizla only ever thought about deposing Satine, not whether the Senate or Jedi could/would step in. He really thought that just taking control would be enough on its own, and even though he didn't have plans for if republic judicial forces or jedi came, he didn't ever manage to have enough strength gathered to depose Satine. My estimation is if we pull from Legends, and factor in that if a single concentrated sector like Mandalorian space had the power to push the Old Republic to the brink without an army of Sith in their ranks, then Mandalorian space must have a LOT of habitable planets/moons very concentrated together, and/or that since planets are certainly not the same size, that Mandalor itself must be a much larger planet than Earth. if the modern republic had 1.2 million units as its army, that's fewer than fought in WW2 on Earth being used for a galactic war with tens, hundreds of thousands of worlds. Not possible unless we assume Unit means a Battalion, or 576 troopers1 Unit, so 1.2 million initial Units691.2 million troopers. So, for the Mandalorian Crusaders to push against the whole of the galaxy, they must have once been able to marshall an army in the same ballpark. ALL from mandalorian space. Now even if Mandalor was once the size of Jupiter compared to Earth (except habitable), that might be feasible, except I'm pretty sure that in mandalorian space mandalor isn't the only settled world. I think it's like Naboo, in that Naboo is the leader of a sector and thus has a senator for the local settled planets, not that Naboo singularly gets its own senator. Same for Mandalorian space. Mandalor is like the capital of a group of planets.
So, if any of this tracks, then even with a decimated Mandalor itself, there must be enou strength that Satine does not in fact control that Pre knows he can't control by just deposing Satine. And he never manages to aquire it, meaning that even though the ruler of Mandalorina space is the DEFINITION of Dar'Manda, and practically redefines the word, Pre Vizla and his murderous space bandits are too repugnant to follow for all these other clans that MUST hate her just as much but allow Satine to rule expecting the Jedi and Senate to murder them all if they try to move on Satine, thus Pre cannot take power because the clans wont follow him, and the clans can't take power because they rightfully think the jedi will come murder them back into compliance if they try. And they won't unite with Vizla not because they think it would be suicide, but instead they don't respect him enough to think the Death Watch is more than bloodthirsty honorless bandits, and bandits wouldn't stand a chance of keeping power even if they were't intolerable.
TLDR, take the training and use Pre for all the resources Kane can aquire, but be ready to dispose of him and forge a Mandalorian movement that is nothing like Death Watch and can be led with pride.
