Oh my freaking gosh I love that you had that part with the sphinx children! I always love when a story actually includes children of the characters and creatures. Adds extra depth and life to the story in my opinion and it’s also just nice to picture in my head.

I like the bit with the male sphinx presenting its belly to Harry as an offer of submission. It’s a nice touch that shows the unique mix of animal instincts and intelligence. It’s the most vulnerable part of an animal and the act itself shows the willingness to take responsibility for his actions.

Great first chapter, the unique mindset and interest in the unknown that you’ve given Harry is very interesting and 8 can’t wait to read more.
It wasn’t fully touched on and explored but the thing you did with Harry actually liking his cupboard is something I always secretly wanted to see. In the vein of how you are portraying a different mindset and a unique mental state born from his rough life i always thought it would be interesting to see stories touch on how his childhood could have had lasting effects on his mental state other than just being something for people to feel sorry for him.
The cupboard thing in particular is something I myself thought would have been interesting for him to remember. As much as he would want to go out and experience all the new magical things and the things he was denied from the Dersley’s it could also be a sort of security blanket for him in his stressful times.
It was his world and his safe space, small and simple in an unfair world, and as he is shown all these fantastic things and dangerous things he could feel overwhelmed about all the unknowns. With that in mind the memory of when things where simple and his world was that cupboard it could become a calming memory for him.

This was a Wonderful story to read, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience it provided. I was a bit saddened that one of my favorite characters didn't make an appearance, namely Luna Lovegood, as I felt that her quirkiness/insights could have been an asset here in navigating some of the more esoteric beings, however you managed to work around it all, so I forgive you this time, lol. While I know that debate for this story is over I was wondering if you were aware that Rowling, in an interview with Emma Watson they did for charity in 2015 admitted that Harry and Hermione would have been the better couple. Ron and Hermione happened for personal reasons to do with Ron being based on a boy she had a crush on and Hermione being based on herself.
