Please, keep going. I love your stories.

I curse out authors all the time, though I rarely take the time to do so in a review. Generally any cursing (in reviews or to myself) is along the lines of "Nnnooo, you mean, evil author! You can't end the chapter there! You are cruel & sadistic for making me wait to know whether the characters will make it or not! I hope the muse tortures you until you give us the resolution to the cliff-hanger!" Sometimes I curse authors for killing a favorite character (I too hated OotP & cursed JKR for killing off Sirius the first time that I read it), but mainly it's for authors leaving cliff-hangers. I have never been able to stop myself from reading unfinished works if I can't handle chapter cliff-hangers.

Thank you for not having any major cliff-hangers in this story so far. *glares at author very, very sternly* I'm watching you so don't think that you can start adding cliff-hangers to your story. :-P

I'm curious if you picture Neville like Hagrid, just with plants instead of creatures. -
"They're just playing," Neville says as he pets the plant that had just been 'wrestling' with Harry & Sirius. "They're completely harmless."
"i/Harmless!?/i" Harry & Sirius mouth to each other in disbelief as they examined the numerous scratches, cuts, & bruises on their bodies after only a few seconds contact with the 'misunderstood' plant (Neville), aka demon-plant (Harry & Sirius).

Snape teaching at Hogwarts was probably just as much a punishment & torture for him as he made it for his students. Both the staff & students of Hogwarts are better off without Snape there any more.

Dumbledore preaching about working toward forgiveness from the injured party, yet he him self never does anything himself to atone with those he's wronged certainly tracks with his "I'm always right & even when I'm wrong, I'm still right" viewpoint.

Elise & Hermione discussion of why canon-Harry might have gotten with fangirl-Ginny actually tracks with canon-Harry's (& abused/ostracized people in general) desperation to keep his friends & pseudo-family happy in order to feel accepted, to belong somewhere, & be loved.

Yeah, in the books, Ginny was always very petty & mean to anyone she saw as different or that she was jealous of. I hate that the books had Harry get with Ginny when Ginny was never shown to have gotten past her Boy-Who-Lived crush to see just Harry.
From HBP: "I never really gave up on you. . . . I knew you wouldn't be happy unless you were hunting Voldemort. Maybe that's why I like you so much." Is proof that she was still a PotterSpotter even in Book 6 while they were together.
Though maybe a year under Death Eater rule at Hogwarts & living through an "adventure" that she'll fully remember might have taught her that being in a deadly adventure isn't fun & games with a saved damsel at the end & all the good guys get to go home.

Interesting to read what you're doing/have done with Snape. In a way, I agree; he's still an arsehole but is the product of his upbringing. Dumbledore didn't (literally and figuratively) help at all. I loathe Dumbledore, in any real setting he'd be unemployed, banned from teaching and hopefully breaking rocks somewhere unpleasant.

Your scene breaks: I centre mine, with a space above and below, FFN seems to accept it. Also, when you load the doc, look at it and check for errors, it's your last chance. You can make and save changes before publishing it. FWIW, I use either OpenOffice or WordPerfect when I write; you can specify levels of headings in both.

Cheers!

In this chapter you mention in the notes that you occasionally catch some flak for not punishing Dumbledore, and for redeeming the Weasleys. I remember being displeased by both statements when I first read your fic, not because I hate Dumbledore or the Weasleys on principle (in fact, I like Dumbledore, my preferred version of him being of a well meaning dotty grandpa who's made mistakes) but because you'd made them sufficiently hateable, stoking the desire to see them get that comeuppance. For Ron, this eventually faded as his apology was very earnest and sweet and you write him as a pleasant, friendly kid, but for Dumbledore, it's actually intensified the longer the fic goes. I was initially appeased when Harry confronted him and delivered one of the most satisfying (yet tragic) verbal smackdowns I've ever had the pleasure to read, and it actually seeming to affect him, which is rare in fics. i mean, what's the point of a punishment if the victim doesn't feel it, right? Yet even after that he continues to be this well intentioned thorn on the side of anyone who wishes for Harry's continued well being, with his finger in so many suffering pies that you almost can't help but read it as spiteful. It's quite possibly the most infuriating version of Dumbledore out there, compounded by the fact that although things start moving without him, he doesn't really experience any significant decrease in influence as long as he has a good excuse, which he always does. It's just that nobody but those closest to Harry seems to believe that even the best excuses aren't worth the life and well being of a little boy, you know? And even they tend to come around and ultimately do what Dumbledore wants.

It's... a lot. Obviously you got me quite invested in the whole thing. You're a really good writer! I love your fics. I thought you might want to hear more on just why that lack of punishment stings though. I realize it's all quite realistic, but sometimes realism just isn't narratively satisfying.

Anyways, keep up the good work!

Nice to see this one back and seeing how silly some of the characters are.
Let's see this continue!

Have Harry move on from Hermione. He can, and will do, much better in the future. Right now, Luna would be better. He needs the opportunity to expand his world.

The same goes for Sirius looking for the leaker. Somebody had targeted the Potters. Normally, I would assume it was Dumbles but apparently, he’s defanged. There is a lot of recurring evil in their world.

It's great to see Harry planning to travel. His world has grown beyond Magical Britain’s backwaters
