Very fun so far, a lot of potential here! The only thing I am truly worried about is the Dumbledore portrayal. Honestly, the fandom has been so infected with idiotic evil Dumbledores that I can’t even read it anymore. So I hope you don’t go the cartoonishly evil direction with him (god if I end up reading about Dumbledore’s Greater Good one more time.)
I find everyone believing his guilt a little weird. I mean, in PoA, McGonagall mentions when speaking with Fudge at Rosmertas how none of them could believe it when Sirius was caught. They only believed it because of all the “evidence.” They were never portrayed as overly cruel in Hogwarts, that one memory of Snape being entirely biased towards showing Snape as the victim. That one prank with Remus being just the one prank.

I agree with your view of why Sirius being believed to be the traitor so easily isn't farfetched at all. What is sad is how Andromeda, who had to live through the same situation of escaping the family as Sirius, is so fast to accuse him of being like them. Considering her life, however, I can see how she could be prejudiced on anything Black and try to distance herself, even more so now that she is a mother. I just didn't expect her to actually tattle on Sirius to Dumbledore, but with the justification you gave it's reasonable for her to do as long as it doesn't become a long-term thing or evolves into her spying for him or something when you consider her priority at the moment should be her daughter and not playing politics or spy.
Overall it was a nice chapter, basically being the setup for Sirius's future foray into the political battlefield. From here there are plenty of avenues for you to explore, you could expand on the impact of the reveal of Voldemort's identity, and you could explore the black library and the systems they had in place to be so powerful and influential for so long, you could tackle the Harry Potter guardianship debacle, you could show Sirius actions for entrance into politics both the moral and immoral ones, you could also show the major players reaction to this new player in the field, etc. There are a lot of ways to go from here, but I believe in your capacity as an author to deliver a good story.

To be fair to Dumbledore capturing Death Eaters in the first war is by far the best strategic choice. No wizard had ever escaped from Azkaban, so a captured Death Eater gives valuable intelligence for no down side. Plus in a magic battle keeping to non lethal spells isn’t that big of a handicap (except for the killing curse). If you can hit them with a cutting curse or a blasting curse you can hit them with stupify or expeliarmus.
I also think the argument that he should have interfered in WWII earlier is a little hollow. It wasn’t his war. He was a private citizen who just wanted to be a teacher. It’s like saying anyone who doesn’t go fight in foreign wars is at fault for all the death in those war. No, the one at fault is the aggressor.

There was no reason to divulge his animagus form. There is no sense in having a known advantage. He’s not showing off in exams or anything as a schoolboy. Hence, he has no reason to divulge its existence.

So far, ch 1 and 2 are still prologue, so nothing to show besides who this Sirius is now. And I like your idea of taking this timeline as a starting line. No black and white, a struggle to keep sane and true. Hopefully, you can deliver it beautifully.
And keep the hurt, hate, and bashing properly, because too much angst isn't my taste.

Great fanfic so far! Gotta love A Sirius-SI fanfic! I'm wondering just how powerful and skilled this Sirius will be? Will he be performing rituals to make himself more powerful? Stronger? Agile? If he is going to take on Moldyshorts and his death-munchers he will need to push himself beyond his limits and increase his skills and knowledge. Hope he will be A natural Legilimens and Occlumens. Looking forward to reading more of this fanfic! Update soon!
