Now that I think about it, I think the Lugia movie might actually be canon. Because Lugia was briefly mentioned in The Mystery is History episode by Ash and James when they encounter Silver, the baby lugia.

Then I bid thee farewell. I honestly thought that the story had more potential just from the title alone. A title can make or break a story. I knew the reboot of the Redo but that Celestial set up a lot of events happening. End of the world, Ash dying too soon and being reborn, etc.
Keeping it simple for the sake of simplicity is fine and as an author I know many have the time to provide longer chapters but I crave those details you forsake. I've been reading here for over a decade. It's tough to find an engaging story that doesn't take months or years to update alcaide and author gets bored or overwhelmed, I get that but I also can't give feedback that will go unfulfilled.
Not to say I want the story my way or the highway but certainly I expected more and that's on me. An AU is an AU. It's meant to tell a story I haven't seen before go into details that explain why these changes happened especially in the setup for such an epic finale or moment that pays off for both authors and readers and this by your statement will not reach that monumental moment until he meets Dialga, Palkia, Arceus, or even Giratina.
All Sinnoh Legends. Not even Celebi would serve as an anchor point to explain the time travel and she is a being of time. Which to me is crazy as Johto is right there. We all have our head canons as I call them but to avoid so many key moments that Ash who he was is just too much. This Ash will have his moment but that journey is not one meant for I to enjoy reading.
So good luck. I'll keep an eye out for Remastered though as this with this experience I'll lower my expectations as to what they story may hold in the future. Less disappointment that way. Peace.

Oh to see the consequences of little changes take place. Because he never traveled with smith because he didn't destroy her bike left to things outcome. As E3roa said it was Misty who saved that young girl at sea. Thats one.
By choosing to travel by ferries which is odd considering he traveled the Orange Islands on Lapras' back cost them time and access to Isles he skipped along the way. That's two.
And now rather than try to appeal to Rudy to fight he just takes the badge. An action he's been vocal of not wanting to do even in canon when the Sensational Sisters tried to give the Cascade Badge away? That's three.
Ash is starting to become a different person than he was. Foresight be damned. That confidence in things going as they did in the past is the problem. Nothing was ever going to be the same the second he caught Rattata. From that decision on, any little action sent ripple effects that led to this and events like Damian's recruitment to TR and subsequent death.
He needs to accept he will not be able to save everything and everyone.
That includes 2 major events left undone. The meeting of the Crystal Onix and the events of Shamouti by having reached Kumquat Island now.
I get not wanting to do things in order, which in meeting the Crystal Onix might've worked but the events of Shamouti and the Lugia/Legendary Bird Trio Power of One events happened after Trovita and were skipped right over.
So now by virtue of that, Ash is not aware of the prophecy, Lawrence the Third is now in possession of the Birds and Lugia is dormant at sea. Skipping one movie was a choice but now 2? And a key one to Ash's role and desire to be an aid to Legendary Pokemon across other feature films and events is definitely a concern.
It may lead to whatever malice forced this redo to act upon even faster if Ash doesn't get his act together. He needs guidance. He need to know why his redo has happened and things continue changing as they have if whatever he was meant to stop can be stopped? He may be an agent of chaos if he continues missing out of key moments that shaped his journey pre-redo.
I'm down to help get some of this sorted. Just send me a PM but this shows the story is reaching a point of no return to where if Ash took the loss of Rudy's sister this hard. Knowing he failed to save the Shamouti events will destroy him completely when he realizes he skipped that entire set of island by reaching Kumquat Island so early to the canon line up of events.
