Words fail to grasp how much I love this series. I think of it often. _

This is one of the best Escaflowne fan fics I've read and I can honestly say that you've had me digging through my old DVD collection to find the series so I could re-watch it all again. I love the twist you put in with Dilandau/Celena and their personalities as well as their interactions with the Dragonslayers. Everyone was brilliant and likable making me spend the whole damn weekend reading both this and the tweenage years. You have a great sense of humour, timing and paint beautiful pictures with words. The only criticism I have is that it ended. Dammit, I need to know how everything works out!

I am so upset to see this story to its end... Man, I wish it could've gone on for a lifetime. c:
One hundred percent awesome story, Eboni! I loved this story so much (though this doesn't even count as a story, it's more of a novel cx) , and /wow/ I've never read an Escaflowne fanfiction as good as this one. I haven't finish the anime yet (all of these spoilers hehe) but I know the general conclusion and I'd like to say: this outcome is definitely better than what I know is going to happen later on in the anime.
It's taken me a good week to read this (so much life, too little time :c) and I'm glad to say I've finished it. I'd say I was proud of myself, but I'm more proud of everyone in this story! XD Van/Dilandau will always be the best pairing in my eyes. (offhandedly ship Viole/Migiel though, they're the cutest brother relationship ever asdfghjkl.)
You can have my heart for free. :)

I read this perhaps back in the summer but I stopped a few chapters short of finishing because of school. I finally went back to finish it :) and really, this is the longest story I've ever read but I loved every part from start to finish! My favorite parts were how you gave each minor character a vivid personality... even your original character - very, very imaginative. Also how cute Van and Dilandau are together such as their date or when Van frets about how his outfits for when they'll meet. The little details like what fabrics and colors Dilandau liked to wear were wonderful touches, too. This story will always stand out to me; a favorite of my favorite stories!

I remember reading this a long, long time ago. Right when you first started posting chapters, I believe. It was awesome even then. And then for some reason I stopped reading fanfiction and wandered away from the Escaflowne fandom.

Just recently, I wandered back. My anime club is currently showing Escaflowne as one of the series, and I have mixed feelings about it. It's kind of a cheesy show what with the romance. I found myself worried if I would like Dilandau and the dragonslayers as much watching another time through it.

The answer? Oh yes. I love those guys. And there just was not enough canon for them. So I went delving back into the fandom only to find, to my dismay, that most of the escaflowne sites had disappeared and that much of the fanfiction that I had previously enjoyed was actually rather poorly written.

Then I started reading this again. I... cannot describe just how much I love this fanfic. You hit EVERY SINGLE ONE of my shiny points. EVERYTHING that I look for in a Dilandau story is HERE, and it is GLORIOUS. You probably have no idea how much you WIN in my books right now. I 'm going back over this story, rereading it a third time, and archiving it so that I never, ever, ever lose the ability to read this beautiful gem.

Oh, and you're getting fanart from me on this story.

Very nice story! I actually started reading this when it was first being written, but I'm impatient, and my anime phases come and go and I gradually lose interest. I stopped reading about the 15th chapter back then. But recently I bought the Escaflowne DVDs and after I was done watching, I remembered this fanfic and wondered if it was done. And I was pleasantly surprised that it was. It was long and well. The plot twists were unexpected and I enjoyed reading it a lot. I was never one for Van/Dilandau, but they work well in this fanfiction, so good job! I also like how you gave the Dragonslayers character, you fleshed them out well and made them seem like actual characters.

There are only two nitpicks I have. The first one is the role of females in this story. Besides Marie, most of the women in this story are seen as annoyances. I tried to excuse it by saying it fit the mindset of some characters, but it made me a bit uncomfortable at some points. If they weren't annoyances, they were ignored. Folken hardly even mourned the death of his two babies Naria and Eriya, yet he fretted over Dilandau.

The second nitpick is the epilogue. I wish it had focused on the main characters! The epilogue didn't do much for me and was a bit of a let down.

But all in all I did enjoy the story and I hope you won't let my nitpicks bring you down because this is a positive review. You should write more stories. :D

Wow, I absolutely loved this fic. XD I haven't read any escaflowne fics for a while and this just really hooked me, I couldn't stop reading it until I finished, though it actually took two days to read. Dilandau's my favourite chara and I really liked how you wrote Dilandau and Celena here, the way you wrote their past and how they were one person and of course the slash. ^-^ Just really great. XD Still very hooked. XD

Bravo! This fic was incredible. I can't even find words...ok so maybe I can. I've read this fic in four days...and have been staying up to 4:00 in the morning because I just couldn't stop reading it! The way you built suspense just wouldn't let me stop...I kept worrying about Dilandau and that nagging feeling was never resolved until I guess the end. Every time he and Valeska fought I was so worried and expected you to have Dilandau beaten, but then he'd win. But with the way you wrote the scene I kept worrying and thinking, oh no he'll lose next time but then he won again! I don't know how you managed to trick me into worrying perfectly each time like that! Brilliant! lol.

Pout. I only wish there was a little more Van and Dilandau though, the chapter of their "non-date" was, I personally think, the most fun chapter to read and made the whole story worth it just for that chapter, although just reading Dilandau and his slayers was just so much fun.

I hope you make a sequel and again this story is one of those fanfics that's a "jewel in the rough".

Didn't you mention you might be writing a novel? If it's already published let me know and I'll buy it! I love your writing style and I need a book like this that I won't want to put down. I wish I had a hard cover version of "severed" to put in my libaray.

Toodles.

This is an amazing story. Felt like I was watching Escaflowne all over again. I love your version of the characters. I really love your Dilandau.

One note, though, is that at times I felt the dialogue between the dragonslayers went a little too long. It's very amusing and interesting most of the time, but a bit long. But this is just one person's opinion anyway.

You should be pleased to know that this story has kept me up at night. Not many had the power to do that. Thank you for a wonderful piece!

That one shot made me the happiest person ever. I never expected you to set Miguel up with Merle, so it was a complete shock. I expected Celena right away, but thought it was better that you tied her into the end of the story like that. Merle and Miguel are two people I never thought could have a decent conversation, but you really made it work. Thanks for the great read. :)

It was a pleasure reading your story. Like many other reviewers have said, you have created strong, well-rounded characters who bring this story to life. However lovely it is to watch them develop, though, I found that the true beauty of this story was in the pacing. Either you spent innumerable hours merely in the planning stages of your writing, or else you are truly talented in finding the balance in a plot between action and introspection, description and dialogue. Thank you.
