I read your whole story straight through and I enjoyed it. It seemed sort of slow and monotone until the last chatper or two. the writing is good, but there was very little tension espcally in the first couple chapters.
Also, the relationship could be worked on, and we know next to nothig about Max.
Anyway, keep up the work and keep writing
