Thank you for this well written story! I too thought Elrond came across as harsh during that scene. Good job!

I don't want to be rude, but 'I love you' is 'amin mela lle'. You just got that wrong so I wanted to tell you. Otherwise great story.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for writing this. I thought Elrond was downright cruel to Aragorn at times, and this sounds much more like him.
The "really, Estel, a dwarf?" bit cracked me up.

I loved it! And I agree with you, Elrond thought of Aragorn as his own son (it is written in the book, something like this "and then he called Estel, whom he came to love as his son")... I was happy for the scene between them on the movie... but I would have preferred that, after the "one i-Estel" part, Elrond had said, Amin mela le to Aragorn... they didn't even have to translate (like how they did with the Hannon le between Aragorn and Legolas)...

Yea you posted it! I really like this story, very redemptive. I am very very happy. I totally understand about exams, they're evil aren't they? Anyways back on topic, I really like it. One question though, does Elrond say Edain i Estel, im mel le? I couldn't tell, either time I read. (on Cassia's list and here) or I'm brain dead. Either way I totally loved the story. Good luck with exams!

Hey, that was good. Yeah, a little confusing, but I agree, he wasn't thinking clearly. That's my only complaint (about the movie(s), not your fic) In the appendix for LOTR, it clearly expressed he was a like a son to him, he WAS his foster son, and he told him he loved him as such. They don't show that in the movie, but I suppose they wanted to add conflict (cause 10, 0 orcs at your doorstep isn't enough, LoL) Anyway, great fic.

That scene bothered me too! I don't think that
Elrond realized Aragorn had already resolved
to become King.
I'm not sure why Elrond repeated Aragorn's mother's phrase I give hope to the world - I keep
none for myself (sorry, can't type elvish).
Maybe you could explain that in your next fic?

Wow! That was just great. I also think that Elrond was shown to harsh in the movie because I strongly believe that he loves Aragorn as much as his other children. So, you made me very happy with this story. Thanx! ;)

I too felt the scenes between the two were too harsh, since Elrond IS his adopting father. I really enjoyed your little tour into Elrond's mind, it was a really sweet story, I felt for him.
