Well, I'm back from Japan, and delighted to see that there were two new chapters to catch up on! As usual, great job mixing the Bad Things with wry humor (I adore the sections written from Souta' POV-he's such a cool guy.)

I especially loved the following: But still. To learn your best friend is youkai- which really isn’t all to horrifying because you read too much manga, - doesn’t even actually need to go to school- has really only been doing it because she’s spying on you because of something about your sister, - and then have her tell people where to find you- nothing too bad until you’re told that they wanted to dissect you to find something you don’t even have. It didn’t seem like there was really a good friendship there.

Just a minor correction-I've always seen the bullet train spelled in Romaji as "Shinkansen" (and pronounced that way, too-Sheen-kahn-sen). Last week, I took the Nozomi Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto-it was awesomely cool, and the bento lunches you can buy from the refreshment cart were the among the tastiest food, ever!

So... Who are the Lords of each Land? I think I have them... Niigata is (was) the farm, and Kouga was the Lord. In Hiroshima the Lady is the phoenix (I forget her name right now). Yoko-sama is one... Is the other Sesshoumaru? And what are the directions?

Other than that, I'm following pretty well. Great story, very intriguing!

(Apologies for not reviewing the last chapter. *sheepish grin*)

Wow. An intriguing chapter, to say the least, if not confusing, but we're to expect that, neh? ;)

For one thing, your dialogue is amazing, and I have to say that this is my favourite chapter yet. Why exactly, I'm not sure, but the prose seemed to strike a cord with me. I applaud you.

And - please - don't worry about my earlier nit-pick about scene description to the extent that you're describing characters' sock colours! ;) God knows there's enough of "those" fanfictions around here as it is... ;)

Lastly, I'd just like to wish you good luck on your IY Fanguild nominations! :)

Oh, lots of good stuff in this chapter! Where to start?

I absolutely adore your characterization of Souta (and your skillful handling of dialogue). His conversation with Mischa in the Other Place was both funny and chilling (as was her observation that her demon side has been sealed away after she let it loose to rampage.

The bird-youkai receptionist at the clinic was (no pun intended) a hoot-I loved her line about just having finished repairs from the *last* time an elementalist and a youkai shared the waiting room.

And the plot is indeed getting darker and the jeopardies higher.

Just a minor correction: he didn’t bothering showing the pain from his wound. Shouldn't "bothering" be "bother?"

Ack - took me a long time, but I finally managed to catch up on the latest chapter.

Oh, poor Mikomi, what a way to go. Although I can't help but be intensely interested in exactly what it was she saw.

I still find it hard to believe that Kikyou was reincarnated as a different person - in my opinion, just because Kagome never went down the well doesn't change her soul; I'm having difficulty seeing the plausibility of this fact.

However, still enjoying the story, and now I'm definitely curious to know just what's going on with Souta.

Nit Pick: I would suggest a little more work on setting the scene - sometimes I find it hard to picture what's going on. That's just me though.

Am now looking forward to reading chapter eighteen!

Lol Well that doesn't help me :p Does the voice belong to the shikon no tama? O maybe to Goshinboku or the well? Am I getting close? :p Your story is getting more and more interesting. I can't believe you ended you chapter there x.x Agh! What's going on with Souta? Is Mikomi dead? Is Mischa gonna heal Matsuro? Meh! Please update again soon!

Wow-lots of juicy stuff in this chapter! Poor Souta-he literally goes from frying pan to fire, doesn't he? And the slaughter at the wolves' home was really wrenching.

Anyhow, I continue to enjoy this story immensely, and I'm grateful for your frequent updates. Keep up the great work!

Wow! Today appears my lucky day for finding new and amazingly well written fics (look what you get for procrastinating instead of cleaning your apartment!).

I'm still dumbstruck at the scope of your plot and all the different but fleshed out characters you've created.

I started this looking for a bit of Inu-Kag cuteness and ended up with something much, much more!

While I think you said this is not meant to be a romance, I kind of do hope you'll lean a little more in that direction. I know, I know...it's not fair to be demanding in a review. It's just that I love the relationship too much to let go.

But really, this is an outstandingly creative AU...

Hi Nighthawk!

Two very good chapters. Interesting twist with Mat and Mischa - at least for now Kino and Shinin shouldn't hunt after them. Mat might even find a way to make up an excuse for Kino when both he AND Mischa are seen alive again. But I guess they'll have to hurry to get better - I'm pretty sure that Kino will soon make a move (or already is, I guess Ayame is at least involved in his plan)

The reincernation list cleared up some stuff, although I was pretty sure with some of them. Mat was pretty clear as was Mikomi. I was a bit surprised that Kohaku and Mischa are reincernations as well; I thought them to be their own characters. I like the idea of Kikyou becoming Mischa, the role fits her. (Also with the "I can't let go of my hate"-problem)

Anyway, I'm curious what will happen now. There were a few hints that Mischa could maybe do miko magic now, maybe it will help her heal (the burns sound pretty bad). And Ayame checking on Souta and the gang also should be interesting, especially now that Souta has a grasp of the situation.

Have fun writing!

I just want to add my rave of love for this along with everyone else's.

In particular your portrayal of Kitsune, which I absolutely love. Before they even appeared in the story the like "He could no more cast a spell than a kitsune could say no to free sex." had me sold completely, and I love watch Matsuro and Chame interact with the others.

I found your story through Chri's Settle The Score, and heck, you're the first writer in ages to get my off my butt to actually put up a review, keep up the great work!

Off and on? Nani? It hasn't shown up for like...over 10 chapters! I bet half your audience has already forgotten about it ^^; Can't u gimme a little hint? ; And by the way, good chappy ^^ Plz update again soon!

Ah, that reincarnation list really helped clear up a few things.

Matsuro I was certain was Miroku, but I had been so sure that Mischa would be Sango. Her distance and withdrawn attitude made me think of Sango, and there seemed to be "something" between her and Matsuro, but then that's just me...

So now I finally know who Tsukikage is, I'd always thought Kouga was the Northern Lord, but now I'm rambling.

I would have read and reviewed sooner, but life and internet access tend to get in the way. ;)

Eager to see how this thing with Ayame plays out, (not to mention Mischa's situation) knowing now that she's Kagura's reincarnation makes so much sense, when I think about it.

Wow-lots of great stuff in this chapter! Where do I start? Souta as an Air Elementalist (and the three-way conversation between Chame, Inuyasha and Souta). Mischa and Chame's conversation. Kagome...as always, smart, witty, and very insightful.

If I haven't mentioned this earlier, you have a terrific ear for good dialogue, which is one of the most difficult things for a writer to do well.

And I also liked that the reasons behind many of the earlier events were revealed in this chapter. Of course, now the characters-particularly Mischa-are in even deeper trouble, but that makes for great storytelling. (And the moment when Matsuro suggests that Mischa is a Kagemusha, an expendable body-double bodyguard, was quite chilling. Poor Mischa!)

So, another great chapter and I continue to recommend this story whenever I have the opportunity.

another interesting chapter. I would say more...but I REALLY have to give my kid a bath and have spent too much time reading this story to do so! I always look forward to your update of this story, it is so original...keep up the good work
