I am afraid that with both e-mail and private messaging turned off, I cannot reply to your reply to my earlier review. Let me say this: unless she had an anti-intertia machine (which she definately did not, because it is impossible to make) the impact alone would have shattered her bones. It doesn't have to penetrate to shatter a bone.

Oh, and drop me a line, would you?

you've GOT to be kidding me. A person can't take a musket ball and not flinch.

musket balls weren't very fast projectiles. They were also deliberately made of softened lead. This was for two reasons: the first was concussive impact. If that bullet hit her, regardless of if it hit a muscle or not, the sheer concussive impact wouldn't have just broken the bone. It would have shattered it into several tiny pieces.

The second reason she couldn't have just taken the bullet is because despite the fact that it is already a .55 caliber (really friggin huge) when it hits someone, it flattens. That is why it is made soft. It flattens out INSIDE the body, expanding rapidly. The hole at the front would be .55 caliber, and the exit wound (assuming it hit the gut) would be the size of a cannonball. Not to mention that it would have shattered the person's spine and ribs.

Not to mention lead poisioning, which lead to mental retardation and physical illness by itself. Add to it that gunpowder doesn't really just explode. It burns. If someone's standing within five feet of the gun when it goes off, they're getting burned, too, as the still unexploded gunpowder is pushed out of the barrel before it ignites.

Not to mention that the common treatment for a bullet wound to a limb was amputation, and there were no antibiotics. Basically, she'd be screwed. If she survived the gunshot, she'd be called a witch and be burned by an angry mob.

Now, assuming she would be strong enough to take a shot and survive almost unscathed, her thoughts should be 'i'm lucky'

Hmm, quite a twist. I like how it ended.

That was kind of weird. The earplug, wouldn't it have gotten destroyed or wouldn't she have changed her clothing at least once during this whole time?

It's kind of short for my taste. Maybe later on, you'll go back and add in more description. I get what's going on, however things seem to be moving quicker than they should. It's almost as if events last for very short periods of time.

However, I like what's here.

Robin's role in this chapter was kind of cute. I liked it.

It should be 'slided' in, 'matching her hair, sidled up to Jack.'

Robin's drunken state doesn't seem believable to me. Do you know what it's like to be drunk? I have never seen someone have hiccups when they were drunk.

Why is Robin laughing hysterically over someone being slapped? She seems too immature for her age. She kind of like a cheeky girl around 13 to 17 (at the oldest) years of age who thinks she knows everything.

Okay, the slapping business is out of hand. Anamarie slapped him just like the prostitutes did in Tortuga for being cheated in some way. They just don't go around, slapping a guy for anything.

Something strange? Just something? That last part seems as if that something was unknown. Characters know that Robin isn't normal.
