Aaaaaand, I'm hooked. If you stop writing this story, I may literally cry.
But seriously, well done! I'm going to check out your Iron Sword book too. :)

Thanks for the update! And congrats on being published :) Glad to see the twins are still alive and have a chance to rest (hopefully). Looking forward to more of this story when you get a chance. And...good luck with your deployment, I know those can be tedious.

This is a very interesting first chapter! You have an amazing talent at describing feelings and surroundings. I could very much picture the entire chapter as if it were a movie. I'm definitely going to continue reading. Can't wait to see where you take it! Good job!

I really enjoyed this story! I myself have a crazy gay friend, and it's not often I actually enjoy original characters in fan fiction, as they're usually poorly executed. No so here - was a refreshing change. And you follow through with injuries, which is also awesome. Authors here seem to think it's okay to miraculously heal wounds in mere days. Hell, I got shot in the hand with a paintball gun during a tournament and it took me two weeks to be able to use my fingers fully. Lord knows how awful a gunshot wound would be...
Anywho, I'm glad you found the time to update. I totally understand about the ocean and internet thing - I'm in the Navy (currently PCSing, having just finished my tour on the jailcell that is a CVN) so I'm all too familiar with the lack of bandwidth... not sure I would have survived deployment without Amazon and Netgrocer, haha...
Keep up the great work!

Well worth the wait! I love the little splashes of the character personalities you throw in, even when there is intense drama. And the kiss was delightful.
BTW, I downloaded your book from Amazon. I'm in the middle of The Jane True series right now, but I'll read yours next!

Wow. This story has been wonderful to read.
First off, the characters are very real. They *feel* real, if that makes sense. I love the banter. Smooth dialogue (at least in my experience) is a challenge, but you pull it off without a problem. Thorough descriptions, yet you don't overload the reader with details they're bound to forget. I haven't found a single typo or grammatical error throughout the entire story. The only complaint I have is that maybe the story moved a bit too fast at times; I had a hard time keeping track of who was injuries in the fight scenes.
On a more personal note, I love that fact that you gave Clare a military background. I think this is what makes her character in particular so appealing to me. (I'm not sure if appealing is the right word here, but eh, I'm sure you get the point.) Several members of my family are/were in the Army, and my grandpa was a Marine. (Tried the Army myself, but I'm too damn skittish. I couldn't get through the FOB at Basic; I can only imagine how I would have been in combat...)
Anyway, the things Clare experience are things that, sadly, people in real life have gone through- the kind of thing you *would* hide in a shoe-box in your closet. It hit home pretty hard. I hope to see you update soon! And congrats on getting your first book published!

Where to begin? I love this story. Your writing is superb, and a treasure to find. (And I don't just mean on this site. I've picked up more than a few paperbacks that don't hold a candle to this.) I LOVE Christian. He could have easily seemed more caricature than character, but you've given him more dimension than even some of Troy's canon characters.
I love that your backstory is hinted at and 'teased' so that when we finally hear it (in a well-planned lull in the action), it's info that both the characters and the readers truly want to hear. Great descriptions - the perfect amount! Not too wordy, but with just enough realistic detail to make it come alive. And I do love the medical and military details - you do a great job incorporating what you know.
I like that you keep C&M true to their vigilante enthusiasm, while making Clare more sober and serious about killing, but still allow them to work together. Many fics have the OCs immediately gung-ho with the killings, and it's always difficult to swallow.
So, where will it go from here? I'm hooked now that I've read all 15 chaps in one sitting. Thanks for sharing your story with us, and I'll be checking back for more!
