I have reconciled my feelings over the "conception to hatching" timeline. BECAUSE, I love the story, and want it to work.
AND, over 2,500 years or more, genetic mutations would/could allow an unusual green dragon, able to conceive, despite eating Firestone. ( YES, I really want this story to work. ) 3. 3 3
I hope your time in JAPAN was/is wonderful. and THANK YOU for writing this.
AND; (hopeful voice) is that a sequel is see in your stories written list.

Hi. Yes, Me again. (eye rolling) Yes, it has been 17 yeas since you posted, and you have probable been told by less generous reader than myself, of dragon gestation, laying and hatching.
I am nitpicking, and I TOTALLY LOVE THE STORY, but, BUT, the OCD in me is driving this post.
once again; I think you are awesome, and love the your writing, quirky sense of humour, ... but,
Dragon pregnancy is longer than 2 weeks ( there is a often quoted passage) and hatching is:
- something, something (mating flight to egg laying)
- 5 heated weeks (eggs in hatching ground)
- a day of glory (impression)
- something, something (mentioning impression to flying)
Oh I can't remember the teaching (poem / song ? )
(closing my eyes, chanting in head; "artistic licence, I am enjoying story, let it go, JUST let it go, the writing is great and it is a very minor detail, VERY minor detail ..., repeat ")

Me again, the one who has re-read Anne's stories at least 8 -10 times (since I was a teen)
and Todd's 4 or 5 times. (not to mention all the fan fictions here at this site.)
If you were going to get Maventh "with egg" you should have kept the golden glitter on/in her spots.
I remember the story of he hatching back at beginning (she had glitter) and / or contrived for her not to eat Firestone for a while. ( okay LOVE-LOVE the story, the characters and JUST nit-picking. Hi I am enjoying your writing, BUT, I hound it very jarring that so many failed the first attempt at between. As a long time fan of PERN (I may have re-read the books as many as 8 times,) the heavier loses come when the pair is getting complacent or in heat of battle.
you have to leave room to lose pairs (characters) later in the narrative. LOL

Actually I don't remember that there were any episodes of weyrling practice or even instruction except when F'lar was teaching Lessa in the first book. So I think you're good. Makes sense to me that there would be casualties. Sad though

My review is for the entire story. Anne must be proud of you and this story even if the idea of a green who has chewed fire
stone could lay eggs is not strictly Anne's in ten. I love this idea since after this pass is over the thread will no longer fall on Pern it makes sense that the dragons will change and adapt like Ruth. I could not have been entertained by this tale more if Anne herself had wrote it. Thank you for the experience. SS

I can't tell you how interesting I am finding this tale. It has me itching to find out how her green is different than other greens. I can't remember much fighting between new riders before. I can't wait to see what happens next!
