Finally the Mannings seem to have an idea how to help Alex! It does make sense with him wondering after he'd been whipped whether the Mannings would have been angry he'd been hurt.
I'm glad we're onto the comfort now. Hopefully they can start moving forward. Looking forward to the next chapter.
I love the interactions with the little girls. Of course they'd want to see him. Richard should have realised that.
On the rating: I've just started reading it to my 12yo (he's loving it, and very indignant that you haven't published it properly. He thinks you should be given the rights to it a long time ago. Unfortunately he's not AH so his thoughts have no say on the matter)
I think putting it up to M is probably a safe choice, but I have no qualms about my 12yo reading it. He's had a few naughty giggles at some of the swearing (as they do at that age), but I don't think it's any worse than the Cherub books, for example. The references to sexual abuse, I don't think are too bad either, there's nothing explicit, although I think some of the more subtle ones will go over his head. Again, Cherub definitely has worse.
He enjoyed your "Dead embarrassing" too, although it did make him blush at parts. I think I found it nearly as funny to watch him squirm as he did listening to it. :D
On that subject, I'd be very grateful if you can finish it by the end of the year, as that's probably about when we'll get to the end. ;P I usually go for around a chapter a night, but some of the chapters are too long for one night, and we don't manage to read every night, so I'd reckon it'll take a couple of months. There's pressure for you.
Would love to see the head-canons, they could be one-shots rather than actually part of this one if you don't want to put them down straight away. Although I would like to echo the pleas to see Chloe and possibly Sir Chris' reaction to the messages/emails.
Chloe and Charlotte would make a nice friendship, maybe there's a one-shot for you with them meeting.

I’m glad they’re starting to figure out how Alex thinks. And I absolutely adored the part with the girls more than I can say. I don’t think Alex needs to worry about his influence on them - we all know he’d die for them even just having met them once. You wrote their dynamic really well! I think that’s my favorite part of this whole fic! Here’s hoping there’s more Alex and the girls in the future!
In regards to the rating - the ratings under the “rules and guidelines” tab on the author dashboard states that a T rating includes “minor coarse language,” while M includes coarse language and violence. Under those descriptions, and based on how many times you use the f-word, I’d say this fic qualifies as M on language alone. The final decision is up to you of course. Oh, and BTW, I think your ampersands accidentally got removed. The slashes were still in place though.
Thank you for all your hard work! It’s weird to think of this epic creeping toward a close. I have no problem with you taking longer and fleshing out some of those headcanons you mentioned (hint hint), but I’ll trust your creative decisions. Have a great week!

Nooooooooo! Why have you stopped there?! I was really getting into it! This was so heart wrenching and wonderful and I loved it so much, I’m.. I’m... *breaks down into a sobbing mess* I just love Alex so much and I want to hug him so badly. Poor sweet child.
I really loved the part with Alex and Sally and Lizzie. It’s nice to see how he acts with younger innocent children. It’s a good break because he acts so differently with them and adults.
But that last part, oh that’s just brilliant! I loved seeing how Alex was trying to get a rise from him but Richard stayed calm and I really loved seeing him and Gilda work things out and figure out what Alex wanted. I’m super duper excited to see how they’re going to start letting their emotions show and all of that. It’s going to absolutely brilliant, I can already tell!

Alex’s conversation with Smithers might possibly be the most honest moment with himself that I’ve seen him have yet in the story. Well done. Also, I’m glad he could contact Chloe. They both deserved to have that closure.

I love this story. I am rereading it (for what feels like the hundredth time) and I am impressed by how you develop the characters and the plot line. I keep thinking that it would be great if kunit got action figures for Alex at the end of the story when he is healing to make him feel better. Keep up the good work!

i started reading this story in, idk, maybe 2014 or 15? when I was really into alex rider and kept checking on it sometimes-you updated a few times during that and I adored it. i haven't kept reading alex rider fanfic by any means since then, but I was thinking about this story and how well written and lovely it was and I thought might as well see if its updated, since it was always my favorite favorite by far. how delighted I was to find that the story has almost doubled in length since the last time I read it (they were about to leave the camp) and that its still as compelling and detailed of a narrative as I remembered, if not more so. I just adore this story, and particularly the way you breathe life into your characters. I believe them, the way alex really does seem like an all too real traumatized child and not just flat words on a screen. you have a gift and its particularly impressive that your story has had a consistent writing style and pull to it over the 12 years since you started posting it. I can't wait to see what happens next

Your writing is incredible! Though there is too much dialogue and useless banter sometimes and you don’t always have to tell us everything that’s going on. I feel like you know Alex super well, cause everything he’s done so far in the story is exactly what I’d imagine he’d do in those circumstances. This is the best and longest fan fiction I’ve ever read, and I admire your dedication, I’m willing to wait as long as it takes for the next chapter to come out, thank you!
