There’s a glaring fault in your “mysterious girl” with the diary until she is revealed to be Luna. You may have intended for a plot twist by having us assume its was Ginny (like in canon) until your revelation that it was Luna, but the way you wrote it only leads us to wonder how Ginny passed it off to Luna once Tom decided to take control, and how the past has now been rewritten for it to be Luna all along.
The very first excerpt written of the interaction of the girl with the book was of her writing about what house she’d be in, and that going to Gryffindor she’d be with the twins, Percy, and Ron, and that Percy had promised her dad he’d look after her.
