This is beautiful. I can almost picture Severus sitting in his dark office writing this by the flickering light of a candle, and sotring the parchment in some kind of sexret compartment in his desk. You have his character down perfectly.

Before i even start guessing, let me just say that this is my favorite poem. I tis interesting and seems to tell a story right up until the end, where it is almost left open-ended. Great!
Anyway, my guess is Severus is thinking about Lily, and the one mistake that insured she'd never be his.
