Hiya there!
I gotta say, I shed a tear when Aang saw everyone smiling at him. Every encounter was so bittersweet. And I'm really excited to finally see Toph. That means Aang will finally tell everything to his new friends.
But, honestly, what I'm most looking forward to is the meeting of Aang and Katara. I'm dying to see his reaction, and I'm actually surprised he hasn't connected the dots yet. Anyway, thanks so much for your hard work on this story.

Hiya there!
I’m probably not the first to say this, but it’s official that Aang and Katara DID kiss in the Cave of Two Lovers. You can check in the official Avatar YT channel :)
Anyway, the episode, lovely as always.

Hiya there!
Let me just say that I'm so disappointed in myself for not realizing that Ty Lee was Yue... It was only when she said she was engaged that I was flabbergasted by the fact I JUST found out about this switch :))))

I've been reading fanfics for years, and I've never, ever felt like I needed an account, but your fanfic was probably the best I've ever read, it connected in every way, and I truly felt like I wasn't ready to say goodbye to this world.
At first I thought we would get a sad ending for Aang and Azula when reading the epilogue, but it was actually a hopeful ending, and that's why I decided to make an account and follow for any update, because I'm hopeful that someday we could get to see them reunite in a possible sequel (maybe after the new film comes out next year, since you mentioned something about it being a possibility if you felt inspired by a new project), and if that day comes, then I'll be checking every chapter as soon as they come out.
So, it's not really a goodbye to the world you built, but an until later, or at least I'm happier thinking that way lol
In any case, thank you for making this story possible, and going through with it despite the time it could take, they do say patience is a virtue, and in this case it payed off amazingly

It's been a while (5ish years) since I was really into fanfiction. Having just watched ATLA again I felt the mood strike me for a more adult take on the story. Can I say, this was fantastic! Start to finish! Real quality writing and your dedication to redoing earlier chapters is awesome. This was easily a 9/10 fanfic for me. Thank you for writing it.

So I decided to write my review after completing the full story (I discovered it 2 weeks ago), rather than piecemeal as I went.
Overall this is an incredible work Ogro. Thank you for the time and dedication you put into it. I love the various twists and turns for the characters. I like how you expanded spiritbending to all four bending arts. I particularly am impressed with how you brought in little bits of the TCG into the story, soundbending and bending the contents of someone's stomach for example. You also brought in things from the Post ATLA graphic novels and novels.
Truly a really impressive work. You managed to wrap it up in an incredibly complex climax as well. Satisfying endings for most characters, while leaving just enough unanswered to leave us wondering.
I am left with ONE question that yearns for an answer though.
In AU fiction we often talk about a point of divergence, I'm sure you're very familiar with the term so I won't insult you by explaining it. But what specifically was the point of divergence in the world that the Aang of this story came from?
From what I can gather Azula went with Ozai in his Pheonix King burning spree. Rather than wait at the palace after going paranoid. But we also know Ozai/Azula had all the invasion prisoners killed, and that's before the Boiling Rock... so sometime before then. Ty Lee and Mai also switch sides there in the prime canon, so clearly something else changed then. Everything before midway through Season 3 of the show seems identical to what went on with this Aang's reality. So really I'm curious what led to the divergence. I guess considering when the story was first written (I was a freshman in college lol), it's possible the canon episodes just hadn't aired yet.
So the first chapter of this was first published: Dec 17, 2007... Which means it was before "The Western Air Temple" on July 14, 2008. Wow, crazy to think how long ago that was.

I'm not under any illusion you're likely to see this review among the well deserved thousands of glowing reviews, but I'd love to know the answer if you ever came up with one. Some might call it a retcon to explain why your Aang's reality was so much darker than the canon one, but I'd think of it as verisimilitude.

Either way, thanks again for an enjoyable and entertaining read.

Aniak really remiinds me of Jet, both are so enwrapped in their selfrightouness that they can’t see the own hypocrisy of their actions. Both fell anger toward an i justice but ended up acting the same way when it is convenient to do so.

Really wonder how Xia Bau plot line is going to turn out. Although his ideologies are good, in practice it doesn’t work in the sligthest. It only workes if everyone agress with it for ever, and this is nothing short of a dream. Boders and hierarchy came to exist for a reason and Xia Bau is challenging the very nature of social sentient creatures. No matter what he does, in a century people will still go back at fighting each other and to stop that he would need to remove freewill.

Would have been funnier to stick with the comet and when Aang asks how it helped water benders instead of fire, Kuruk just looked at him and said "Comets are made out of ice... ... ..."

I mean, I had my suspicions that Katara was the Blue Spirit after it said it was a woman’s voice behind the mask. Interesting to see where that goes.

Also interesting that Sokka isn’t the Blue Spirit here.

Ch 17 The Swordmaster:
'"I am curious as to why the Avatar would want to pick up a blade," he said calmly. "Is bending not enough for you? Swordsmanship is a much more delicate art." Aang's eyes widened – how was Piandao always able to figure out he was the Avatar before they even met?'

But at the end of the last chapter, Piandao already addressed him as the Avatar so why is he surprised again?
'Good evening, Avatar," the man greeted him, showing just as much knowledge that he wasn't supposed to know as he used to.'

Looks like these reviews don't indicate which Chapter I was looking at when I post them so to be clear about the Crescent island comment, I was referring to the end of Chapter 2 The Avatar Returns where he first mentions about going to Crescent island ('He pointed to the location on the map and then slid his finger along to a different destination. Not for pleasure. He never journeyed somewhere for pleasure anymore. "And then to Crescent Island."')

And Chapter 3 The Western Air Temple where he seems to have come up with the same idea again
'A sudden jolt went through his spine when the thought entered his head. Crescent Island. That could be his next destination, but would he even be able to contact Roku without a solstice?'

And later:
'"There's somewhere else we still need to go next," Aang told them. "We're leaving soon." The two looked a little miffed to be told like that, but neither of them did anything.' Seems to confirm that this is a new idea that he didn't already have at the end of Chapter 2

And
Chapter 5: The King of Jie Duan is where my other comment about no one confirming the existence of Omashu before Aang asked about it was referring to

This is an interesting idea and am enjoying this fanfic so far!

"Aang didn't want to mention Ba Sing Se or Omashu just in case they didn't exist. He did not want Long Feng to be suspicious." Then later, Aang still asked about Omashu and Bumi even though Long Feng nor anyone else mentioned them first so he still didn't know if they existed when he asked about them

Aang already said he planned to visit Crescent Island at the end of the last chapter and yet in this chapter, it sounds like he just thought of the idea again

It’s interesting. I do like that you didn’t make what happened to Sokka identical to what happened to Zuko; though, i must say, considering everything, i do have more sympathy for Zuko.

Now, I’m not even going to try and guess whaf would be worse, having half of your face burnt off, or having your eye gouged out, but everything else surrounding these events is worse for Zuko. He wanted to go to a war meeting to learn how to better lead his people in the future; Sokka was trying to complete a task everyone in his tribe had to do. Zuko spoke out against a cruel plan; meanwhile Sokka merely failed as a task (something that was arguably his fault since he got distracted). Lastly, regarding their banishments, Zuko was kicked out of his home unless he found the Avatar. Sokka banished himself out of embarrassment; nothing was official, and he can go home anytime he wants.

I do like that you changed up Aang’s story to better parallel him with Sokka.
