Aang already said he planned to visit Crescent Island at the end of the last chapter and yet in this chapter, it sounds like he just thought of the idea again

It’s interesting. I do like that you didn’t make what happened to Sokka identical to what happened to Zuko; though, i must say, considering everything, i do have more sympathy for Zuko.

Now, I’m not even going to try and guess whaf would be worse, having half of your face burnt off, or having your eye gouged out, but everything else surrounding these events is worse for Zuko. He wanted to go to a war meeting to learn how to better lead his people in the future; Sokka was trying to complete a task everyone in his tribe had to do. Zuko spoke out against a cruel plan; meanwhile Sokka merely failed as a task (something that was arguably his fault since he got distracted). Lastly, regarding their banishments, Zuko was kicked out of his home unless he found the Avatar. Sokka banished himself out of embarrassment; nothing was official, and he can go home anytime he wants.

I do like that you changed up Aang’s story to better parallel him with Sokka.

‘At first, Azula tried feebly to cheer him up by causing misery for Zuko’

Poor Zuko

For a strategist Sokka can be really stupid sometimes

Kanna’s like “give me some privacy!”

Meanwhile, Iroh was like “I will weaponize my nudity to get my nephew to let me take a break.”

He always planned things ahead

At least I know this won’t be a copy paste of Zuko’s story lol

Interesting. I expected Sokka to find the head piece since Zuko did (the necklace) in canon. But Bato did here. I’m curious how that will change things.

Good to know that Long Feng is so rotten that he’s bad in this alternate universe as well lol

Interesting. In the series, Zuko didn’t have a vendetta against anyone; he just wanted to capture the avatar, so it’s interesting that Sokka does. I guess that makes sense, though. After all, his banishment was self inflicted unlike Zuko’s, so it seems like his father has more of a hold on him that Zuko’s did on him.

“He hadn’t expected something so proactive from Roku to begin with.”

That one got a chuckle out of me. BURN!

Interesting. I did not expect Sokka to lose. Though, I hate this Bato way less than I hated Zhao. Maybe it’s pre established bias, but I can’t help it; Bato is way more reasonable (not by that much but still) and he’s not creeping on Sokka unlike someone I know.

So, I’m assuming in this universe Hakoda gave Sokka the scar; which I do feel sympathy towards the boy for; however, in regards to the fact that he’s hunting Aang, I don’t. Zuko didn’t care about the avatar himself; he just wanted to go home. Sokka here, I’m assuming there will be an explanation why the avatar specifically interests Sokka so much. I mean, I know he’s trying to regain his dignity and honor (which apparently doesn’t mean as much to the Water Nation as it did the Fire Nation—that makes a lot of sense btw) but I’m kind of curious what exactly that will do for him. He’s apparently still a prince, and his dad didn’t revoke his title, so I’m very curious.

I’m intrigued by this story so far.

Aang! How do you not remember Sokka?! Did you bump your head while going back in time?!

i'm playing ambience music while reading the chapters, and the earth kingdom one i had playing started getting intense during the perfect timing of the meeting. Aang learning to trust again... the world is healing...
