If the test of a good first chapter is that it makes you want to read more, this was a really good first chapter. I hope either inspiration or guilt will drive you to finish your story. It's cruel! to leave your readers hanging for months [I consider this chapter a cliffie] unless you have a Really Good Reason! [I like exclamation points also.]
