I try my best to avoid stories with that warning 'character death' but I usually end up reading them anyway...
That one was particularly heartrending. Good thing they're just characters and can be resurrected in the the next story!

AH! So sad! I love this song...hadn't thought of it in terms of Sam/Jack, though. Gosh, so freakin' sad...

How heartbreaking!
It's a good thing we know it doesn't really end like that- does it?

Hi! Thanks for replying to the "review". If you go to your Account Settings (click on login, even if you are already logged in) you can enable Private Messaging. I feel more comfortable with that than corresponding by e-mail! But in the meantime, let me see if I can address your main points
First, you've got an logic inconsistancy problem. If Sam/Jack is "canon", you no more need on-screen confirmation than you need to see a character in a bathroom to believe they relieve themselves. That's ignoring the far more germane point of using DVD commentary on a deleted scene from a different series to "prove" it. Some of TPTB are pro-Sam/Jack ship, others aren't.
I think that the people who support these pairs (and
others), need to realize that whether they like it or not, the relationship between Sam Carter and Jack O’Neill has been the franchise’s most popular and touched-on ship of the series
Actually, Jack/Daniel is the most popular pairing with fans, something that you can easily verify for yourself. I typed "Stargate: SG1 fan fiction" into Google. Once I had that (1,030,0 results, if you're interested), I clicked on the "search within results" link, and typed in "Sam/Jack" This gave me 15,600 results. BUT when I did the same thing using Jack/Daniel instead, I got 19,100 results!
But if they did, I wouldn’t necessarily be happy about it (as I’m sure they wouldn’t be if we S/Jers got confirmation) but I know that I would accept it, because that’s the direction the powers that be decided to take the story.
Um, this is another logical consistancy problem. You can't say, "I'd accept whatever decision TPTB make," when you're part of a campaign to influence that decision!
And TPTB have made a decision. They have decided that no matter what different opinons individual members of TPTB have about what 'ship direction the show "should" have, they're not going to confirm anything on screen, so that every fandom group can see what they want to see!
And that's the relevancy that "Do unto others," has to this discussion. You admit that it WOULD make you unhappy if a competing pairing got onscreen confirmation. So the actions of "Operation Penguin" have a goal that would make very many fans unhappy. Including, and this may surprise you, lots of Sam/Jack fans who have no desire to push their favorite pairing into a "canon" that leaves other fans out in the cold.
If you want the full, unedited version, please enable your PM and I'll send it! Or you can click on my name to go to my profile, then click on "send message"! But I won't be able to reply unless you enable your PM.

Wow, very moving. Even though the thought of either Sam or Jack dying is far from one of my favorite visions, I think this was really well written. And the meshing of the story and song was wonderful. Very well done!

Aww!
I thought that Sam would "go" before Jack.
It didn't make me cry... but my throat did get a little lumpy.
Just a note: Jacob bonded with Selmac.

That was so sad! Not in a horrible way, but it was the perfect way for Sam to go with Jack by her side and.. it was just so beautiful! Worked really well :).

I cried. That song is so powerful, the words you wrote to partner them. Thank you.
