I love this version - the only really good one, extremely exciting. Especially, regarding love. Pierce Brosnan's Fogg is a hundred times better than Fogg in the book because he has the courage to show his feelings for Aouda and change his life for her. Throughout the journey, Fogg showed touching tenderness and care to Aouda without expecting anything in return, and finally, he himself offered her his hand and heart, as befits a real man who truly loves, unlike the cold Fogg in the book as well as from the completely callous and dry version with Niven.
I was extremely happy when I found this fanfic because it shows the continuation of an extremely beautiful and pure love that cannot be forgotten. There was amazing chemistry between Brosnan and Julia Niskcon!
By the way, I'm also writing a novel, a follow-up to the 1989 version, about what happens after Fogg and Aouda (Pierce Brosnan and Julia Niskcon) get married and how, years later and with four children, they keep their love despite racism towards Aouda, and despite a truly terrible test that not every marriage and love would endure.

This was lovely! As a fellow Sherlockian fan, I did spot the Sherlock Holmes reference but won't mention it so that others can find it.

I thought you did a great job of capturing the overall spirit of the novel and everyone was wonderfully in-character. I vaguely remember watching the 1989 version, as well as the 1956 version with David Niven. Both were really fun to watch and I think you did a marvelous job of blending aspects of both the film and the novel. I especially loved the last lines about going around the world again in one night - that was so sweet. Romance can be tricky to write and you really captured the romantic aspects here in a subtle and mature way. I really appreciate that in fics that have romance as their themes.

Thank you for writing this; Jules Verne is such a small fandom and I was so happy to find such a lovely and well-written (and slash-free) story from one of Verne's novels. Well done!

I watched the miniseries when I was littleI remember PhileasAouda was a sweet pair. But when I read the book in college I was disappointed by the lack of chemistry between them. This little scene is truly lovely, it restores them as one of my favourite fictional couple.

It’s been 11 years, but I’ve just finished the book, and I have to say it:
“Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour?”

This was so good, there are hardly any acknowledgement to this couple, especially in the movie adaptation:/

It's my OTP! I can finally appreciate them in fanfic form! You, my friend, are a miracle worker. This is amazing and utterly true. Also, yay for Phileas loosening up and no longer hunting for the Tuesday dressing robe!
Stay amazing!
Lots of love,
Penni

Ooh this was fabulous! There are so little ARED fanfics out there; care to recommend a few? It would be super if you would continue...

This is a beautiful piece of writing. Around the world in 80 days is one of my favourite novels and your "epilogue" suited it down to the ground. I too am partial to the 1989 miniseries, Brosnan's and Nickson's performances were simply sublime. There isn't that much fic of this novel around so I am really grateful that you decided to write and publish this.

Well done! I too loved this book when I was a girl and enjoyed the 1989 television adaptation. I'd always wished that we could have seen just a bit more in the epilogue, such as knowing just how eager for change and the future Phileas would be after having been thoroughly deflowered by his new bride. Thank you. Quite well done indeed.

I just reread the book and was desperate for some fanfic, and this is exactly what I was looking for. Utterly perfect, and brilliant. I love the way you showed that Aouda is sort of rehumanising him by disrupting his clockwork precision and that he doesn't really mind.

Lovely story - thank you! :)
