I really like the story, I think its realistic, especially to Jackson's character, as personally, I don't believe he would go back for revenge that is common in many stories.It's not him.

I like how you've unconcsiously made it as her going to him instead,a 'coincidence', it makes a pleasant difference. Im looking forward to reading the rest and the histories behind Jackson and other characters.
