(Part 1 of this comment because can’t register my full one)
Hello, I decided to go ahead and read this Behemoth of a story because COVID and an intense desire to read a FF7 self-insert. And I’m quite glad I did. Saan is a lot of fun to read. She’s smart, cynical, morbid and funny! What’s there not to like about her? Besides that, I found myself getting a little sad whenever she reminisced of her life back at Earth. Even when it’s a reference to something, it hits different when you know Earth is all but a few space rocks. That one scene where she talks about her friends…I don’t think it was meant to be an especially sad scene, but even so, I couldn’t help but feel bad for her. Ronnie is well, Ronnie. He’s goofy and him and Saan bounce off of each other perfectly. Every scene with them together is a treat and I found myself laughing out loud at their banter. I almost wish he wasn’t stuck at a desk job. Almost. I relish the sort of ‘shut up I’m an overworked office worker’ vibes he has. Jerry shaped up to be way more than I thought he would be. I just thought he would forever be ‘clumsy Shin-Ra guard that gets into SOLDIER for comic relief ha ha’ but damn he ended up being much more than that. I swear, I almost had a heart attack when he died from falling…fanboy, you cannot die on us. Moving on to the other canon characters, I loved their inclusions. My favorite has to be either Sephiroth or Zack though. Maybe Sephiroth though, since he and Saan are annoyingly witty with their sort of banter. It was quite the touching moment when Saan declared him as one of her closest friends, I have a feeling Sephiroth appreciated it and was happy. And god, no matter how many times I see the scene where Sephiroth loses his mind, game form or fanfic form, my heart will never cease to ache. It’s always a bummer to see this decent cat man go crazy and almost kill Gaia. That Jenova really be making him a motherfucker huh? Ok, bad joke. But it always hits hard, and this one did especially. I was hoping Saan could help pull him from his delirium, but Jenova would’ve found a way to turn Sephiroth into her little puppet anyway.
As for Zack, wholesome Zack the Puppy is best Zack. Zack the SOLDIER is badass and nearly best Zack. Sad Zack is Zack-breaking-your-heart Zack. Zack. He’s really nice to have in the story, and he’s sort of a way to keep the situations from feeling too despairing (Saan does it a lot too, but this is Zacks paragraph so shhhhh). But now Zack is…ahhhhh :( I wish he would survive…(or maybe he will…).

The other Turks (Tseng mostly) where fun. Reno being Reno and teasing people mercilessly while also being a rather…dangerous guy. And Rude, he was just standing there. I know I’m a sucker for giving minor characters screen time, but when Rude is more or less there but not involved in the situation is funny to me. Mostly because that’s how he felt when I played FF7 for the first time. Rod and Shotgun were nice inclusions, but I don’t know too much about BC, so I can’t say that much on their portrayal. Shotgun seems like a psychopathic badass though. Verdot is well…Verdot. He’s like Rude in this, but instead when he stands, it’s done menacingly.
Cloud is cute, and I do love it when Saan teases him, but I do like how little they interact. It gives me a feel that Cloud is more of a Zack boy, and that’s exactly how he is. Even though that fact will absolutely crush him.
The Anubis suit you introduced was a unique idea and I become ever so curious about the real Anubis. Is a good woof woof boy, or a bad grrr grrr boy? Who knows. But the suit was a very nice way to bypass Saan’s body being anti-Mako (love that by the way. Mako is from Gaia’s lifesteam, so it makes perfect sense that an Earthling would react more violently than a typical Gaian). Sure, she can’t do all the cool stuff Zack can, but it allows her to be slightly more beefy that she otherwise would.
Speaking of Earth, I wonder how some people will react once Saan and Ronnie reveal their origins. Though I shudder at Sephiroth finding out…evil Sephiroth is obviously crazy. Wouldn’t want him getting ideas.
That one part where Saan makes a helpful note for Vincent cracked me up. Poor Vincent. Oh well, Cloud and the gang will go up and get his ass into the party anyway, ‘sparkles’ or not. More importantly, Jerry is quite brave to fanboy when he’s seen Saan being…Insane-With-Maybe-Slightly-Morbid-Humor-Saan. Kek.
Anyway, I loved reading through the fic and I look forward to sinking my teeth into the next arc. And yes, I know this story will never reach a conclusion. But I still love this fic and will go back to re-read it. I don’t care if it’s old and will never be finished- I love it for what it is. Thank you, so much for writing this. I hope you had as much fun writing this at the time as I did reading it. Even if you’ll never read this comment based on how long you’ve been gone from the internet (at least from what I can tell), I am still so, so, so grateful. Stay healthy and have a good day :)

Where should I start?

I love the Title? I interoperate it as the ultimate message Saan and Ronnie cary from their destroyed earth to Gaia. It reminded me throughout the story of the dark message that they bore throughout the story in spite of the light bantering mood.

The story was hilarious all the way through. Saan's commenting on Gaia and indirectly on earth culture was just priceless a had me laughing all the way through. (still can't get enough of that spirit gym, I was thinking the whole time that Anubis was probably reading her mind XD). I think you also mention and made fun of some of the unspoken cliches in video games that are usually only brought up in crack ficks, and it was refreshing to see them turn up in a serious one for once as well.

I really enjoyed Saan's interaction with Sephiroth. There communication between echother seemed really natural and it was very interesting to watch since they seemed to understand each other so well and be able to communicate a lot even though much of what they said wasn't spoken. This quality seems to have broken down many walls that Sephiroth usually has since people will not catch on so easily to what he is thinking or feeling and only see a blank wall before them instead. Sean also challenged Sephiroth on many of his unquestioned thought patterns and practices, and he was sharp enough to pick up on it.

In many way's Saan reminded my of a Marry Sue. I usually don't like this sort but Saan was surprisingly likeable inspite of it. I think that one of the main reasons was that people called her out on her shit and condratictions and she could even admit it to her self at times. You also managed to make her fighting abilities and achievements in this area sound very realistic. Quite the feat, in my opinion. And something I really, really like about this story.
