Wow, this doesn't seem like the James Potter from Harry Potter. That character was defined through his bravery, whereas this one is a coward. Is this characterization merely a set-up to make Snape a viable romantic interest for Lily? Thus far, your characterization of James seems extremely OOC and intended to make the reader dislike James.

Good chapter.James has royally messed by leaving Lily and Now a lady friend who announced she was pregnant.If Lily ever finds out,James is dead for real leaving two children with the Potter name.

Is Harry the sole Potter heir? Makes me wonder on when Lily would find out that James was cheating on her? Will Lily and Severus get together?

I think the reason there aren't many stories like this (with Lily or James surviving) is that it makes HP's life too happy-she can confirm that Sirius wasn't the secret keeper for example.. ( though the delay in getting to Hogwarts might mean Peter has already blown up 13 muggles and blamed Sirius; I suppose if no trial, Sirius could still get blamed for that + killing Peter?
Then, there's no "leave HP with the Dursleys..." Obviously Lily will not be too happy about losing James... I think the few stories like this have had her re-marry & the new husband doesn't like Harry. Or something.
It'll be interesting to see where you go with this. She might go into hiding and pretend she did die for example... or decide the wizarding world is too dangerous & leave it?
