Excellent one shot (though chapter 2 repeated it). I'm glad Hermione saved him, thus showing Snape that not everyone is glad he's dead (unlike in canon); here's hoping she and the others can keep him out of Azkaban or whatever other punishment the Ministry will dream up for him; after all, he knows which members of the Ministry were really for Voldemort and are now claiming Imperius, just to name one thing he knows too much about.
Cynical? Yes.

Good story, but you need to work on editing. Things like '... the light pierced his *irises*', and 'revivifying' don't make all that much sense.

I really enjoyed this. I was kind of skeptical, because most oneshots dont get the point across very well, and you did acceptionaly well in doing so. I would greatly encourage you to write your longer story. I believe that it would be very interesting and a highly likable story to read.

This is a lovely portrayal of a few moments with Severus and Hermione. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this piece and would love to read further development between them. Your writing is well thought-out and easy to follow. I'm looking forward to reading your other stories.

I don't know. Based on the first chapter only, I'd say Hermione is annoyingly full of understanding and Severus seems too willing to accept the "wisdom" of an eighteen-year-old girl. Maybe it's just a matter of taste, but in too many stories a Hermione who begins her relationship with Severus with so much maturity and understanding will turn into a Mary Sue. I hope this doesn't happen. It's only the first chapter, after all. There's still time to give Severus back his anger and cussedness, and to have Hermione trip over a few of her rash assumptions so we know she still has room to grow. This certainly isn't a thumbs-down, but you have yet to win me over.

i'd love to see you take this story a bit further and just a one-shot. i really enjoyed life for rent and decided to read twisted roots when i saw you'd written other stories. i hope you'll work on an extended version soon!
