I understand why Roy and Edward needed to talk about ishbal and I appreciate the wonders said talk has done for their characters but isn't it completely bonkers to compare the act of bringing his dead mother back to life with roy's action in ishbal, which was straight up genocide? The two aren't even remotely comparable.

So. Either the deus ex machina that is human transmutation really did something as un-Truth-like as make Ed's mother hate him, or Trisha is the single worst parent in the world.
I mean, for someone whose last memory is dying, probably with thoughts of how she didn't want to leave her still young sons, HATING said son for no other reason than a lie is so incredibly out of character that I can't find any explanation other than the Gate doing something to her.
Now, to take someone's love, as I think is where this is going, as the partial cost of a soul, is a decision so filled with human emotion and its fallacy that I can't believe the Gate would do that.
I'll continue on assuming it's just a plot device instead of the rules of this AU, and hope I'm right.

This may sound a bit dumb but I can't notice any difference in your writing style. Maybe it's a bit more flowery at certain points, like when you describe winter in central but otherwise it appears pretty much the same as before. Which is fine by me as your writing has always been a wonder to read. This chapter actually seemed very similar to the Roy chapter even though it's from Ed's pov. And i had high hopes for the examination, you certainly delivered!

For some reason no matter how many times I look up your map of amestris not a single town, village or city appears clearly. It's always blurry. But I don't have this problem with your map of central or any other pictures on your reference site. Can you please do something about it?

Thank you for the update.
I have only one criticism for this chapter; there's lots of telling, not enough showing, of the boys club.
We are told Andrei is polite and sweet, we are told Cyril is a brat, we are told what geniuses they all are, but unlike with Edward and Roy we aren't shown any instances of their intelligence.
I suppose you might be saving all the demonstration for the future.

Maybe I'm looking too into this, but is the fact that the pair of Sanz knives that were once used in the murder of a couple are now shared between Edward and Roy suppose to be subtle foreshadowing for the slow burn romance?

Fishers of all. Amazing, wonderful and captivating story! I found it in my finals week and I haven’t been able to stop reading . I hope I pass. Lol.
I loved every line. Every word. It is all so very well written. And I feel every emotion Ed feels.
I had to stop in the middle of the chapter to say this.
I HATE TRISHA. How can she just forget about Ed. Poor little guy. He is 11! Oh god I hate her guts. I almost resent Al too. But he is Al, everyone likes him.
Anyway, thank you for such a fantastic story. I had so much fun reading it.
