I'd love to read more of this story...how Dumbledore's death affects the rest of the magical world and Luna and Harry growing up...what sort of fun (but safe) adventures they might have during school since they're not going to attend Hogwarts. Would you consider a sequel or spin-off story of this one-shot? It was a great read...I've actually always wanted to do something similar but never have any plot bunnies for it, so I end up just facepalming instead or growling in frustration. Most of the time Dumbledore is portrayed two ways, either super-evil or really good but still accessory to child abuse though very occasionally he's in the middle of that spectrum where he's portrayed as a tired old man with too many responsibilities, unable to delegate for whatever reason but tries to make sure Harry is healthy and happy. Those ones are rare but enjoyable.

Damn, I would have liked to have seen this story expanded and, other than the loss of Mrs. Lovegood, included in the previous Lovegood Universe.

I like the idea of holding Dumbledore accountable for his crimes. It would be even better if they also managed to break his reputation and expose him as the Dark Lord he is.

I wonder whether Rowling really believes him to be somewhat good, or whether it is a secret test to teach people to gather the facts and think for themselves instead of believing everything that is presented to them.

Dumbledore is responsible for many problems.
First, we know that he believes wizards should rule the whole world, with the argument that they are more powerful than muggles. By the same reasoning powerful wizards should rule the average wizards, which conveniently means him.
He forced Riddle back every summer into the orphanage, thus contributing to Riddle's hate against the wizarding world.
He made sure that Harry's childhood is similar, maybe worse than Riddle's. I guess that even in Riddle's time an orphanage had regular meals and rooms with some kind of bed and window, not cupboards.
To get Harry to the Dursleys, he had to get rid of Sirius. While it is explained that Sirius couldn't be Harry's guardian because he was in Azkaban, the truth is that when Sirius and Hagrid meet at Godric's Hollow, Hagrid already has Dumbledore's order to bring Harry to the Dursleys. Sirius gives Hagrid his motorbike and then continues to chase Wormtail. So either Dumbledore had already planned that Sirius would chase Wormtail (compulsion charm) or he just took advantage of the situation. In that case, the question is, what else had he planned to get rid of Sirius. Maybe Sirius was "lucky" that he just went to Azkaban instead of having some fatal "accident".
Harry is then sent back every year, even after the death of Cedric and Sirius, and even his friends are ordered not to contact him, until Dumbledore comes to his "rescue".
Harry receives not training (Riddle's home life doesn't count). It is clear that he is not expected to survive. In fact his while childhood is a big gamble. Beat him so much (physical, mental, emotional) that he either gets an angry young man and becomes the next Dark Lord, or make him so submissive that he willingly walks to his death. Also remember that Dumbledore says at the beginning of book 1 that he wouldn't remove the scar (Horcrux) even if he could.

Harry's life is not Dumbledore's only crime.
He has many positions and more informal influence. Instead of sending Sirius to Azkaban and let most of the others walk free, he should have tried his best to make sure that everybody get a fair trial and the guilty don't claim the Imperius defense.
Allowing incompetent teachers is a problem for society. Whatever Snape may be, he is not a teacher. Potions are required for at least Aurors, Healers and Potion Masters. With Snape in Potions students who would consider these careers would either miss the required grades or choose something else to avoid Snape's lessons.
Dumbledore risks the entire school in book 6 for his experiment whether Draco would kill him or not. How many more people died under his command for similar experiments.
His withholding information to Harry in book 7 leads to the death of many people and only a sequence of extreme luck leads to Voldemort's defeat, which by the way isn't by Harry's hand.

That Harry would name a child Albus Severus is one of the worst parts of the epilogue (even worse than poor Hermione with Ron). It shows that Harry has still not recovered from his brainwashing.
