This is an absolutely hilarious read, I loved it! Siegfried had just built up the courage to just barely imply that he might have an interest in Hilde when the long built up tension is broken by...the scream of Hilde's malfested father, which is dismissed as if he was just an annoying barking dog. I couldn't imagine a greater way to introduce the secret. Just the way you described some of the actions made me chuckle. Something about the phrases "beats is food into submission," as a man might do when he's nervous, and a mad zombie father "sagging abruptly," had me rolling. The witty wording was as great as the scene plot itself, well done!
