My god Dagger could not be more pathetic here, I'm kinda convinced you hate her. I certainly can't see how we're meant to feel anything but contempt for her- There's no way this cringey wimp is the same girl we see at the end of FFIX. "I won't let [Dimi] take my crown no matter what! (Except I won't do a damn thing to actually defend that crown even when cornered)". Instead she'll mewl and whine about NOT using the considerable power she has at her disposal because "oh noes Mommy used eidolons in COMPLETELY different circumstances, therefore I never can, not even a mild one like Shiva"~ And then at the eleventh hour she'll STILL have done nothing except need to have her ass saved by her boyfriend (because her life AND crown would be long gone if Zidane had stayed on the battlefield).
Fuck. Like, I know Dagger has her somewhat-pathetic moments in the game, but it's called character growth and she's definitely grown out of that by the end. and even when she's needed to be saved by Zidane, she's usually tried SOMETHING proactive first (striking out on her own to go back to Alexandria to see her mom, summoned Alexander to protect the city), she hasn't just passively whimpered in a corner refusing to fight until someone tells her what to do.
I mean this story has been well-written but there's some things that bothered me about Dagger in it that I couldn't put my finger on until I re-read this chapter.
As an aside: it bothers me less than the above, but it's still fucked up that Zidane doesn't even invite Mikoto to his wedding and basically ignores her completely but everyone and their mother still think she has the obligation to save his ass from his own fatal stupidity. They're insanely lucky that this story's Mikoto seems to be at LEAST as good a person as canon!Zidane, bc literally anyone less moral would tell them to GTFO.

dear god...OP...thank you so much for both BBB and Foundations, they really wrought hell with my emotions. im so in love with how you took canon material and interwove it with your own storytelling. the poignant way you made us feel vivi live on (he's my favourite game character of all time T_T) and the gentleness with which you treaded kuja, how zidane feels about him, garnet growing into her own... GAH these two stories were such a ride and I'm so thankful you wrote them and I discovered them! FF9 was my favourite game growing up and it still is now - I'm on a replay (depressing times pulling us back to old wellworn comforts, am I right) and I keep being caught by how incredibly beautifully written it is, and I feel like your storytelling here really does it justice. Thank you so much, again. I hope this finds you well.

So I read all of BBB between yesterday and today, and at first I found myself loving it. You captured early game Zidane well, if a bit more over the top with his
scoundrel-ness than I thought he was in the game. You did an amazing Job with Garnet (I, too, really don’t like calling her dagger. I called her Alice in my last run through... it was my fifth and I just finished two days ago! XD) and her overall progression.
My one complaint is that the overall development with Zidane seemed a bit stunted. It just never seemed like he learned to respect Garnet as much as I felt in the game.
Now the reason that I bring that up in a review here is that the small amount of respect and positive development that I saw in BBB seems to be gone entirely here so far.
Ultimately, this story isn’t capturing me like BBB is and I think it’s because I find myself longing to see that character development in long fics like this and BBB. I might pick it up again later, but in all honesty my own writing has been backburnered for too long anyway.
This all being said, your writing IS excellent, I’m just finding this story a little not as much to my liking. If I didn’t hold your work in as high esteem as I do, I would have never bothered to write this lengthy of a review!

I'm not very fond of Zidane's attitude here, he seems not to care a bit about Dagger's reputation as a queen. Anyway, enjoyable story to read, nonetheless.

1 month, for finish this wondefull history, Im agreed with u, when a game is catching your heart is difficult going out, I love the fic, the characters keep theirs personalities, So, I can forget this, my heart everyday was crying, or loving, or dude! IDK, u are a genius for the art of writing, please I want to know if u in the future u write something new. Splendid! brava!

Sooo. I started playing ff9 again (thanks to rhe rerelease on steam) and when I got to garan roo part I had to go and reread brick by brick (which obviously lead me here) and I realised... I never actually reviewed this last chapter. After rereading both brick by brick and this fic in their entirety... I am so glad that I was a part of this Fandom as you were writing them and I got to see you develop into such an amazing writer over those years. I still can't believe that ff9 is as old as it is and still holds such a part in my life. It is there for me when I am happy, sad, angry... however I feel. Like you said in your author's note on this last chapter "garnet has become a good friend" I feel the same... about all of the characters... and I am so happy to know there are others out there who feel the same. These 2 fan fictions, in my opinion, are such a wonderful companion to my favorite game. FF9 will always be dear to me. It walked me through such an awkward and shitty time in my life... and this fanfiction is its companion to me. I have accepted things you have written and decided them to be cannon in my own personal ff9 world. I just wanted to extend some love your way and let you know that I think you are wonderful and your writing has brought a lot of joy to me over the past... how ever many years. I have never met you, will probably never meet you, and we have never been so much as much "Internet friends"... but I want you to know that I am so greatfull for you and your writing... and I hope that you let us know if (when!) You have anything published, I will be a fan of you forever. 3 3

Ouch for chap6 I can't believe Zidane accidentally hurt her.. Yay for the necklace (chap7) .. I thought chap8 is a fluffy chapter? But it's still great.. Hahahahh the start of chap9 is funny.. Poor Blank xD .. In Finding the middle ground, you accidentally wrote it as Chapter Eleven which should be chap10.. But it doesn't matter, I just want to point it out.. (if someone still haven't) .. The implied Freya and Fratley is great btw.. hahah :3

I feel sorry for Dagger in the Prologue but Choco is amazing :3 .. Yay for implied Ruby and Blank (chap1) .. I'm glad that you mentioned Vivi.. I cried at that (In chapter 2).. Ugh. I hate politics .. Hmm Blank and Dagger's friendship is good in this fic but I really can't see that happening (just my opinion) .. But thanks to Blank's suggestion, Dagger and Zidane had finally xD (in chap4).. Hahah.. Chap5 is full of funny scenes except for the last part.. Hope you don't mind thos kind of review.. :3 (if you even see this) xD

I love this story from beginning to end. I'm so glad you finished it! I've been following it for years as you've been writing it. I really admire what you've done to continue the story. I loved how "in character" everyone was. I could see every moment in my mind vividly. FFIX will always be one of my favorite games, and I think you will always be one of my favorite authors! You really are an amazing storyteller, with impeccable grammar (that's pretty hard to come by on this site. lol). I'm so looking forward to continuing to read your work! Brilliant job!
