Hmm this conscious decision to do something unprecedented. And one of the teams mentioned in your AN was led by a Uzumaki. I wonder what that would have been about.

I’ve read these stories maybe a half dozen times over the last decade (Jesus I was in high school when I first read this smh) and come back to it every once in a while when depressed or wanting to tune out of the world. It’s good for a nice fun escape sometimes. It’s probably been five years since I last read it (other -somewhat- more recent fics spring to mind the last few years when I need a ramen flavored piece of escapism) but I think this is the first time I noticed you gave out these hints. Now I’m really wondering what the twist was.

The first fic was seriously amazing though. Way better than Invincible Summer: the first fic that introduced the idea of Naruto masquerading as a female. That was fun but seemed much more implausible and even highly implausible. My appreciation fell with only one reread too.
With Spying no Jutsu all the starting components came from canon. The oiroke no jutsu, the whole training sequence to learn the rasengan, and of course Naruto’s world changing charisma: Honesty/talk-no-jutsu.
I’m shocked it took me so long to find Spyjng no jutsu but this was the first time I went through a whole TvTropes list of recs.
My only complaint is the hint that Naruto was never told his parentage. Although I guess there has to plausible deniability for the son of the yellow flash. Come to think of it I don’t get what happened to fence sitter Oonoki, but I guess that never really mattered within the fic just a bit of AU-ness.
Definitely one of my favorite fics now.

I love that image of the Raikage.
Fairy Tail had that thing where every character has a quirk of personality. One Piece too. Those two series overdone it, I think, but here, it's much more reasonable.

Damn. A three year skip is where this one starts off apparently with no clear ship in sight. I was always upset that Naruto was never properly promoted. Hell Shikamaru was promoted despite the invasion during the exam and he LOST his fight. But apparently helping in the invasion was enough and his reasoning for just giving up was enough? Bullshit! That shit village just wanted to further sabotage Naruto's career, he won his fight and displayed a method of inspirational reasoning to his opponent THEN helped in the invasion by both keeping his comrades safe/alive AND defeating a fellow jinchuriki that had let out the bijuu without having to resort to the same method himself and refused to stop fighting until he literally couldn't move and somehow managing to keep damages in his fight to minimum even. But he's still a genin. He gets sent on special missions, high ranked missions, training with some of the most high profile ninjas that the village has, is placed in different team formations for his skills and/or abilities, has proved and demonstrated an ability to learn high level attacks quickly and utilize them effieciently, help saves at least one kage, any team he's part of never dies, and has a clear high power level that doesn't belong in a genin rank...but he never gets promoted. No because Konaha is filled with assholes they kept him at genin rank like that could stop him from getting more powerful until he managed to take the Hokage rank even when it was acknowledged that he was at jonin level or higher despite still being kept genin. At least Yugito and Naruto where pen pals but I'm a little confused over the tag thing. They were given tags but also told to get a tag or more without being told which kind they need to get. So all of the ones shown are making wired ass guesses on what they need while Naruto is the only one who's going: fuck that let's get one of each, and is inserting take a on top of that? How do the ones who supposedly not have the right tag know they don't have it? And how were the ones who tags where apparently already right know that it was? I see it's been years but maybe you'll finish this. I hope you do. But it's cool if you don't. But in case you do I'm faving this too. Also it hurt my heart to think in this story that he has a possible relative there to connect with and doesn't because he doesn't even know he's an actual Uzumaki thanks to that shit village he loves to much.

I just read this again after many years, and ...your omake zbout the Akatsuki was remarkably prescient given the laughable way the manga went :p

I'm reasonably sure you're never going to pick this up again, but on the off chance you're motivated to there is at least one person in the world who'd appreciate it.
