The way you decribed Gene sat in his castle sucked me in from the word go, your use of words was beautiful. Alex as Gene personal cancer was sort of true in the end "Beautiful alluring and deadly dangerous: Alex Drake."

Ahh...Nothing like a good angsty-Gene with Galex overtones fic. They're my speciality :D (When I say speciality, it means that more or less all my fics are about him contemplating suicide, decaying in a shallow grave...all wholesome stuff.)
This was very good, I know it says complete and works perfectly well as a one-shot, there is always room for a second chapter there. Very nice :D

It's hard to believe that this is your first story, it's magnificent. The exploration into Gene's personality, the complexity of his feelings for Alex, and the destructive nature of their relationship, is powerfully written and your use of words is so strong. "It meant sit down in case you fall. It meant what I have to tell you is so terrible I can only say it in private. " I can almost hear Gene thinking that. And the ending is shocking and brilliant. How could you end it there? I want to read Gene's reaction. Whether you continue this story or write some more, do more A2A fics, please!

First timer? Wow! You're an amazing writer. This is a beautifully written, thoughtful story. You really delve into Gene's thoughts and emotions about Alex. Just a couple of my favorite lines:
"She was like a high class stripper removing her clothes, only he was one of those daft punters who didn’t realise it was his clothes she was taking off until he was naked."
"Even if they opened him up and cut all they could see of her out, there’d still be come part of her hiding, ready to re-grow its attachment because if she died her death would always be with him, and if she lived the scar would stay with her for ever."
Fantastic! It's like you opened Gene up for us to see.
The last bit about Molly was stunning. And I'm tempted to ask for more of this story. Hope to see more from you.
