I really do like this poem/story. :P It has many poetic devices and it flows really nicely! I have noticed that you have used some alliteration, the examples that caught my eye were "essence of empathy" and "ever-constant, enraging, consuming" I love how you have repeated "The drumbeat" and "It goes on and on. It never stops." it gives the poem a nice feel. I also like that you have used a range of vocabulary; it makes your writing sound very intelligent. I absolutely love your last line, I can imagine the Master actually saying something similar.
