I love the end part. Nice metaphors you had there! Certainly it is for them.
As for the beginning part, it really shows how vulnerable he must have felt. I am glad he had 'friends' who were there for him. Even Kenpachi haha.

Powerful stuff, this. I really like that you gave Kenpachi some depth, especially since the series does so little of that. Ukitake's personality is dead-on, and I really enjoyed seeing the character development in Byakuya. 11 out of 10 :D

Rather painful, though, especially in the beginning, but you give hope in the end. A little bit of comfort.
I love your sun/moon 'theory'. Truly adorable. And I think it#s like this: while Hisana was his sun, Rukia is his moon^^
I also liked it, that Byakuya now finds his wife in everything he likes- really sweet^^
You characterized everyone well, Byakuya's despair in the beginning was completely understandable and I think he DID act like that when he heard that his wife was going to die...*cries*
I also liked the characterization of Unohana and Kenpachi- the story of 'the two Yachiru's' was really nice^^
And I liked Ukitake's characterization as well. Really good! *thumbs up*
