If you don't mind me asking, what the hell is this? Is that Jane or RJ? Don't tell me he killed her. What?

That was very moving. I enjoy reading your work and I found this piece was hard-hitting and had a lot of depth. Thanks for writing.

Oh you have no idea how happy it made me to see this in my inbox this morning. I completely agree with Lisbon giving more to Jane than vice versa; I think it'll be a while before he's even capable of evening the odds.

I always love snippets of Lisbon as a child, when she still had her innocence and was her cynicism was less well honed. Love that it was just after her mother's death, where she's just starting to head down the path to where she is now. It's painfully sad to read that kind of thing, but that's the point I guess.

As for the 'now' part. Again, equally sad, but in a less oppressive way because she isn't in imminent danger as she appeared to be during her childhood. It's just... the connections she's making, the fact that she acknowledges she's never really grown up (or, maybe, grew up so fast that she never really had a childhood in the first place). And that history is repeating itself and she's not sure she can stop it this time, as she couldn't the first.

[It didn't surprise her that her so-called home was a broken one. After all, she supposed she gravitated to what she knew.]

That line really stuck a chord with me.

Hope you get the time to write (and read!) something soon. Hope you're well too. xxx

Yayy! You're back. And thanks for replying to my reviews.

I think you were bang on target with this chapter, considering that the season premiere just aired recently. Sometimes I feel that Jane doesn't deserve Lisbon at all. Their bond is certainly not reciprocal, even though Jane claims it to be, or rather, wants it to be. Case in point- he asks her whether she trusts him, and the next moment he leaves her to pursue his wild schemes, making sure that her injury makes it impossible to follow him.

Again, welcome back. I request you to post as much as possible.

apparently I no longer get alerts from FF. hence me missing this, even though I adore this chapter.

Oh I think this makes a wonderful companion piece to the previous one. Still devastating in its way, even if it is more hopeful. Because you just know the two of them are far too stubborn to give in after that. Jane's words were callous, even if he was doing it for the best. If you do have time to write again (and I really hope so, there's far too few Mentalist gems these days), I'd love to see a continuation (or anything!)

Susan! The author's note says it's been a long time and it has. Too long. I've missed you - hope you're okay, even if things are still chaotic.

Anyway, I'll get to the point. This is beautiful, heartbreaking but beautiful. Exactly the kind of thing I love. Really, it's quite sad, but I could easily have seen this happening if Jane had pushed her that little too far.

And I still have another chapter to read. That makes me happy. :-)

I wanted to hurt Jane so badly for hurting her. xD But the Jisbon in me won too. You're right; this totally went with the last chapter. Anyways, it was still great. Good job.

Oh my... *cries* This was wonderful and all but so bittersweet. Jane's words were so harsh and I don't blame her for doing what she did. Great writing.

I like the first part a bit more, but the end of this one is the best. It's cool how you made Jane so exhausted; normally on the show his hatred is never-ending.
