aw, that was really sweet. I wonder if Shinichi is subconsciously aware it was Kid (because I'm assuming it was ;) ) that came to him. I loved the ending, Kaito's confidence and Shinichi's way of dealing with the flamboyancy of Kaito. Thanks for sharing!

And I like that 'i-dont-reget'-attribut of Shinichi.
But there is one question in my head: Had Kaito allway worked in this shop or later when Shinichi got hospitalized?

I so want you to continue until Shinichi realizes that it was Kaito who had spoken to him! Please, Please, please! This is really great! I like the chemistry they have going on right now. And Ran. Whoa. She didn't give up without a fight, not that I didn't expect her to.

Oh, that's just too sweet for words. _ I love your KaiShin pieces (good for me that it's your favorite pairing!). I'm sorry to see that this is only a one-shot, though. The premise is sound, and I'd love to see more of this cafe (and Kaito hanging all over Shinichi, that too. Well, okay, mostly that. XD), and Shinichi finding peace and his place in the world. It sounds like it would make a good longer story.
Just one thing, though-at the end, instead of "cliche", I think what you meant to write was "original character", or "OC". An original character isn't necessarily a cliche, and there's a lot more to cliches than just original characters. I just thought you might like to know. ^^ Please keep writing!

Awww. Too bad it's a oneshot. The KaiShin undertones were adorable and I'm glad to hear Shinichi being selfish for once. The angst puppy needs it.

Reading the story I kept thinking 'is this a spur of the moment thing or several days old?' cuz that would be too coincidental and much too creepy ^^; And then I reached your author's notes XD
I know it's sadistic, but I'm really pleased about the break-up scene. And Kaito of course. Subtle as firework, yeah right Shin-chan. Anyway, the story has a relaxed, nice atmosphere to it really like it ^^
