*sigh* Hiccup's death grip? I LOVE IT. Haha~ Oh yeah, our boy really is strong when he puts his mind to it. I mean, he HAS to have strength in those toothpicky arms if he was a blacksmith's apprentice, right? And I bet he's been developing lean muscles, too, what with all the flying he and Toothless has been doing.
You know...I'm wondering what Hiccup's hands would be like. I mean, I know he wears gloves when working (he SHOULD!) but it makes me wonder if that necessarily means they're not calloused.
BUT anyway, back to the chapter. Astrid is completely in character, I think. Being tough in the beginning, and then grudgingly relenting, and then eventually being impressed out of her wits with Hiccup's Hiccupness. We all saw it in the movie before, during and after the Romantic Flight, yes? :) Totally in character, I think.
And Hiccup's grin and "And?" in the end? That was so cute! Wheeeeeeee!

Very, very good job! I love it when it's Astrid being shown to be smitten with Hiccup. (I mean, we all know it, but stories just show Hiccup's side of the romance.)
And even though it's really fluffy, there's a toghness-vikingness-there that is so Astrid. You have a really good grasp of character!
