This is still one of the best fics out. Love the high drama and consequences of actions. My only hang up is that most of the consequences could've been avoided if proper 'thoughtful' action was taken.
Cullens didn't want to change Bella. They met here when she was 16,17,18 - it wasn't too clear, thought she didn't know what she really wanted, thought she didn't know the true ramifications of 'asking' to be changed. Or at worse, thought she just wanted to be 'down'. Just wanted to be 'immortal' because of some rosey-eyed view of what it meant. Since they broke the rules by letting her know, all they had to do to satisfy her wish and the law, was tell her they would change her at a later date. When she had more time to 'think it over' That way, if the Volturi found them at any point in time, they could always say they planned on bringing her over into the blood. To my mind, it was such a simple solution. One easily made, since they claimed to 'love' her as much as they did. Makes no sense that they would fear what the James, Vick, Laurent trio intended to do, if they already had a plan in place, OR made that plan to do so, right then and there. And since her father is a cop, that would be an acceptable excuse. A lot could have been avoided. But truth be told, Aro's greed for Alice could've easily turned that situation into Aro's favor. He could've manipulated her addition into the Volturi if that was the case. But that would mean the situation would've just taken a different path. One I would deem, unavoidable at that point.
I guess that is the crux of all my issues with this story. ALL OF THE PROBLEMS were VERY, VERY, VERY AVOIDABLE!
Edward could've called and confirmed that he met with the Cullens when he was finished with that actual meeting. Then he could've gone and met with Bella. Then he could've explained she was his singer... Then called again, and explained she was his mate. Then he could've explained he needed time, because she was changing and he could not travel for awhile. ANd so on and so on...
He didn't want to report the Cullens because he liked thier little family vibe. I get that, but he wasn't truly conflicted at that point. So I don't know why he just didnt' make the call. Oh well. The story is done. Thanks for the contribution. Great way to spend news years day. Catching up on one of my Favs.

Thinking about it . all of this could've been avoided if Edward just got his head out his ass and just reported in after he confirmed her value. That nonsense of trying to figure out why Bellas mind was closed to him and holding her for days for useless questions was the most skippable part of this whole story.
As soon as he realized she was mated to him which he did but didnt want to say it he shouldve called it in... but he didnt now Jasper is floating on the breeze. smh.
