Brilliant! Antonio had it coming, he was a racist and was hypocritical enough to turn to the man he'd constantly abused for help. Although I'd also go with the theory that Antonio was secretly gay (no ladies in his life after all) and helped Bassanio out of love, or he'd been a bad lad in his youth and Bassanio was a secret son... both these scenarios exonerate Antonio a little for me. But there's no getting away from the fact that the ending to your story was darned enjoyable!
