I always find your author notes interesting. This chapter's notes especially though, were almost as fun to read as the chapter itself.

Daaamn! Holy, just... what? For Ron to actually take a swing at Hermione. Any time that ends up happening in a fic, there ends up being a really, really great blow-out from it.

And now we get a look into Mrs. Potter's flaws as well. The ones she began the story with seemed to vanish quickly, so I'm glad to see new ones getting explored.

I think my fave line in this chapter was:
"One other thing," said Harry in a soft, dangerous tone that utterly intimidated even Fleur. "I did not hire Mr. Howe. I hope you're planning on paying
him, Headmaster, because I certainly won't."
On it's face, such a simple statement. However, it shows more about how much Harry is understanding the situation.

Technically speaking, Hermione never actually meets Fawkes in the books. After Dumbledore's funeral, he flies around the grounds while singing his song of morning, but from how it's described in the book, he is out of sight while doing so. I don't know if she ever went to Dumbledore's office either. Aah, wait! I think she sees him once. I believe it was book five, where he flames into the headquarters, drops a parchment, and flames out. But again, the way it's described, he does it so fast, they might not have even seen Fawkes.

I always love seeing how people portray Falks. We get so little about him that it leaves the paths open, but unlike most other characters, we have little to no fan template to work with for him. Greengrass for example, so many authors have shown her a certain way that it has created a bit of a template.

Hahahahahaa! I love it! That conversation between Dumbledore and Harry was fantastic.
