Wow. As Chuck would say "endings are hard" - but you nailed it! That was a really satisfying conclusion. You have left Show with some really big shoes to fill (size 19 and ruby red, dare I say!)
I was a bit iffy about the whole 'no soul' concept to begin with but you answered every 'logic' concern I had, and then some! The fact that I am now completely on board with this theory is a credit to your incredible writing, research and plot development skills. :)
In terms of mythology, pacing, balance and characterisation you are one of a select handful of writers who gets it absolutely right - as in it's not just good, it's close enough to Show that it could actually be an unpublished script! And characterisation is definitely a real strength of yours.
This has been a fun ride and I definitely hope we see more from you in the future! :)

Well, I never would have thought that you hadn't been writing for a while. This fic moved at a great pace and the story was very well put together.

What an amazing story. I just read your profile and I can't believe you haven't written anything for years. You have a real gift - one I wish I had, but I can only write legal briefs, not entertaining or insightful fiction and character studies as you have.

Nice progress. And really moving when Sam snarled at Bobby 'if you want to really be like my father why not just tell me to never come back..' There's a link, clearly, no matter how tenuous, to that soul hanging in hell! He just has to, uh, follow the yellow brick road...or something... :)
And a couple of actual laugh out loud lines...
"Jesus!" Dean nearly jumped out of his skin to find Castiel parked cross-legged in the grass beside him.
"No," the angel answered confused. "It's me, Castiel. Did you get hit in the head again?"
And...
"I think I'm going to stop talking to myself for awhile."
"That would be best. There are some things I do not need to be privy to while you are calling for God. Although I must say that I like Lisa very much."

This is soooo cool! I'm glad you gave a little shared time of Sam's body to Sammy's trapped soul. It really makes the situation for him all the more dire. It's as if Sammy was watching himself from his lockbox in hell but his body is like a marionette and Sammy is unable to work the strings.
It reminds me of something from an long ago psyche class. Where we where taught that the identity of a person was divided up between their mind, their brain and their soul. I could never figure that one out but it seems as if that is the situation that exists for Sam right now. He has two out of the three components working him. His mind and his brain but without his soul in the mix he cannot truly have his entire identity. huh. And at the time I thought I would never need that knowledge again. Just goes to show you, factoids crop up in the darndest places (LOL)

I can just picture Sam's soul strung up in Hell, a bright, shiny trophy for all demons to look up at and revel in its capture!
All Sam has to do is take it? Why do I get the feeling it won't be quite that easy?

oh man, this story is so cool-you made a perfect plot; something that seems inconceivably unreachable. Dean's reaction would have been mine. He's so distraught! More decisions to make, that's for sure, poor fellow! That's going to be a long and tricky road if he chooses to take it. I'm sure Sam will understand if Dean decides he cant' take it and returns to Lisa, though I'm sure doing so will eat Dean alive day and night. I guess it can be true; the path chooses us.
