This was exquisite, it really was. I adore Lily/Snape, it's my OTP, and you wrote it really well. I actually wrote a similar story, except far more angsty. .
I absolutely loved this line, "He had never been the stag to Lily's doe," it was so accurate and heartwrenching, well done!

But Snape _did_ apologize; apparently he doesn't remember that part, or that Lily shot him down forever after.
What a pity he couldn't see St. Lily for what she really was, and forever blamed himself for her shallowness. (sorry, you don't marry a bully without knowing what he really is, unless you really hate his victim).
Good story.

Poor Sev! He's so thoroughly crushed that he can't imagine Lily begging HIS forgiveness for calling him Snivellus and mocking his poverty. And she did it without even the excuse of being choked on soap and dangled upside-down. Any panicked Slytherin can shout "Mudblood!" It takes a friend to know so precisely where to place the dagger and just how far to twist it for maximum pain.

This is a really good story. I like how you genuinely made me feel sympathy for Snape. You do a good job of characterizing him and showing his softer side.
