Great stuff! :) yes, the blind date lines were corny ... but clever, because of how you got the Ashes references in there. I really enjoyed reading it :). A great idea!

This is over flowing with brilliance! Cilla Black the She-Devil, three Alex and Gene getting the girl, what's not to love!

I really cannot say how much I adore this story. Every line is a joy, and your use of words is brilliant - "more mischief than a bunch of disgruntled miners at a Conservative wives fundraiser"; "as laughable as Prince Charles having a bit on the side"; the backstage crew's get ready dance; "He would have wished for the floor to open up and swallow him whole if he could be sure he'd end up somewhere peaceful."; the ceiling decorated with stars; Cilla's ruthless charm and steely persona; and the whole lovely idea of Gene having to choose between the three Alexes, the Series 1 tart with the left hook, the Series 2 anchor (my favourite Alex outfit) whom he couldn't trust, and the vulnerable Series 3 woman who truly knows him. Every word perfectly judged and so like the series. And the ending, with them together at last, is both funny (Gene with an Alex threesome - dream on, Hunt) and touching. I love the very end, with young Gene in the bar with a Diana Dors lookalike. Why shouldn't he have his happy ending too?

I wasn't quite sure if I was going to enjoy this or not - but I absolutely did! What a really original way of getting Gene to go into The Railway Arms.
I was never a big Blind Date fan but you've absolutely nailed the show - right down to the corny lines which had me groaning...but in a good way.
Great story, very original, loved it.

Brought back memories of blind date andni didn't see what was happening until the unveiling at the end. Trust gene ask Alex for a threesome in heaven with two other versions of herself...well that a foursome! Glad they are together.

This was absolutely genius! (no pun intended!) I love the image of the three different Alex's from the three series - really clever. I really enjoyed reading this. It made me laugh and loving the Galex ending :) Thanks for great writing. xxxx

This was amazing! I haven't read many stories about Gene's time to go to the pub, but this one was fantastic! The Blind Date idea was just excellent, and the corny lines were what made it so good - because that's exactly what Blind Date was like - I remember! :D I loved this so, so much, it was just brilliant! Fantastic Galex, and fantastically written...there's not much more I can say, except loved it, loved it, loved it!

This was really very clever and I enjoyed reading it (even the cheesy lines which epitomised Blind Date! :D)

This is fantastic. How do you come up with this stuff?
I am old enough to remember Blind Date unfortunately. Although I was too young to understand the innuendo at the time. I so can see it now though.
I pretty much guessed that they were all Alex. But I'm so glad Gene picked the right one. :D

Aww that was lovely and amusing, I like the idea of the crew doing a 'get ready dance' I do one before I go on stage too

Oh god- I've been checking for this all day- and you snuck it on while I was watching Marchlands!
'primped and primed for the nation's delectation' Roger that! (Oh and how I'd love to) and the lashes, hands and eyes- brilliant!
I laughed so much I woke up the neighbours- until I got about two thirds of the way through and then my eyes moistened, it was just great that they were all her because I was so worried about WHO he was going to end up with.
Only complaint-(not really a complaint as such) is that it was a one-shot- surely you can squeeze out a bit more ;)
Fantastic ! x
