I keep returning to this story as one of those that draws you back in. This has everything to do with your ability to balance, to characterize, and to delve into the heart of the matter. It's so lovely, and tender, and full discovery for the characters-of themselves and of each other. And you should know it's truly terrific writing.
I don't read/know any of the other fandoms you write for, though I did. Hopefully you'll write more of this, or if you don't, I hope to be familiar enough with the originals to read your other work some day.

i can so see this though both the anime and manga seemed to make it a real point to emphasize that partners were partners and not owner and tool
more like Sargent and LT than anything so maybe not equal (after all in combat someone has to be in charge) but none of this your opinion does not matter stuff more like final decision rests with the Mister which makes sense from a tactical viewpoint.(though soul was kinda a bossy weapon and also tended to be better at the whole situational awareness and long term planning thing than maka was)
it was mostly students who got this impression (and got reprimanded for it in soul eater not) soul too kinda takes the whole weapon duty thing farther than most one of the things i love about him
in the show too it was a very rare thing for a move to hit the person inside the weapon tis what made fighting crona so weird soul should not have taken damage from those strikes but he did hell he blocked what looked like some pretty powerful magic based explosions with no problems not to mention jack the rippers blade hands in the very first episode and did not have a scratch on him
soul based moves could to a degree but otherwise no (so stein could but only if he tried to even his soul wavelengths during the fight with the kids did no harm to soul even as he shattered his blade with his palms) still for the world you made they are all very in character and i am impressed with your work

Aww! Love the end of ch 1. 2 more things. 1: when Maka n Tsubaki are talking, n Tsubaki says "I would follow him to the ends of the earth if he asked me too!" When she says too it only needs 1 o. 2: I loved #5. I have a perverted mind thanks to my friends.
