The first issue I see with this is the allusion that Akane is even really interested in Ranma.
In the manga the only times she shows any form of interest is when the other girls pay attention to Ranma, or she wants something.
The rest of the time her interest seems more friendship or competition.
I also don't recall any time she stopped paying attention to him.
